Stopped in for takeaway on our one night in Lamego. The Owner was very accommodating to help translate the menu into English for me and take my order. I Had a glass of wine while looking at the gothic cathedral out front as the town buzzed for the night. The service was great and the food was even better with its size and execution. Traditional portuguese restaurant with delicious home made food and excellent service. All rest usually close at 3pm and reopen at 7pm so at 4pm we couldnt find anything to eat other than pastry, but when i called Restaurante Novo to ask if their kitchen was open he said: “its not, but we can open if necessary!”. I will not hesitate to say that the roast lamb from the oven made the dinner one of the outstanding meals of our 21 day tour of Portugal.

Friendly, welcoming, good advice and great food, the team is outstanding and the menu with plenty of choices.

So we are here again for dinner and looking forward to the chef's version of Bacalhau.
