What sort of place doesn't have a corkscrew?...
...This place!
Maybe that will change if this is read.
You get what you pay for: Broken chair in hallway that nearly broke me Slippy hallway rug that nearly broke my friend Only a microwave and very limited crockery and cutlery. -Very slow tiny lift that doesn't go directly to each floor but leaves you have to walk up or down the remaining stairs that are shallower than standard in both height and tread space Keys that are difficult to turn. Twin room C2 smelled like hair removal cream the whole time. One bed had an open head end as there is no wall or headboard. Mop and bucket with smelly, dirty water left in the bathroom. (This may have been what smells like hair removal cream in our bedroom 2C which has his window as a close right angle to the open bathroom window). Squeaky wardrobe door in room 2C.
The worker was friendly but knows very little the about local area and Lisbon.
On the plus side, it was a roof over the head with a reasonable view from the kitchen.
I would not stay here again and would not recommend it, even if things in the guesthouse were improved, the communal stairs and lift are a problem.
It is about 20 minutes walk into the town centre. 2 to 3 minutes walk to the metro. About 20 minutes metro ride to...
Read moreThis mix of a pensão, a hostel (free of dorms!), and longtime staying rooms are far from hotel-stars. But what it lacks in "normal" hotel-facilities you certainly gets in other ways: Friendly atmosphere, indeed! Breakfast included, in a full-fitted kitchen free to use all day. Metro round the corner, 10 mins from center without change of line. And for Lisbon-lovers, (we're quite a few!), a neighbourhood, o bairro, so portuguese as you can get it that close to center: Here people live, normal people, so ofcourse also a lot of (cheap) restaurants, cafés, and shops. And only a few stray tourists...|The rooms are primitive; a bed and that's almost that. Though some with a nice street-view, maybe even a balcony. Still in this Not-Hostel-hustle calm friendliness, like in the common breakfast- / dining-room (a few odd tables and chairs along a string of windows); any time of the day, if you want to socialize a bit or eat whatever you've brought home or just want more space than in your room...|Oh, and not to forget; even in july for prizes far below the average. An average that compared to other EU-countries still are among...
Read moreThe place is a mix of hostel and pension, just like the fellow traveler has pointed out in the other evaluation. The price is excellent for what is being offered and it was totally in accordance with my expectation of such a cheap hostel. I stayed in a private room with 2 single beds and even though it's not a big room, it was enough (to properly place our luggages, for exemple). They have free and working Wi-Fi and the staff is great! Note that they only speak English, for the hostel is run inside a Sri Lakan family apartment. They also have dorms with multiple beds and there are total of 5 rooms. The only problem is that they have only one single bathroom (which can be a huge problem if the hostel is completely booked) and the sheets in my room had bloodstains on (yikes!!). During my stay, breakfast was not included. I also liked where it was located, since there are a lot of restaurants around and it's really close to bus stops and subways. And it's just about 2 to 3 km away from some really nice monuments...
