Our experience at this campsite could not have been worse. We stayed here for two nights with our camper. Upon arrival, we had to wait 45 minutes at reception due to the extremely slow check-in process and the inefficiency of the receptionist. After checking in, we were given a location where we had to go, but the directions were unclear and confusing.
The bathroom facilities were far from acceptable. The toilets had no toilet seats, and the showers were cold in the evening. Since we had not planned our trip far in advance and wanted to stay in Ericeira for one more day, we decided to extend our stay at the campsite. That is when the problems really started.
We had to wait over an hour at reception again, this time due to an extremely long queue and the fact that only one of the three reception desks was open. After finally reaching the front, I asked the lady at the desk if I could extend our stay by one more night. She said that would be fine, but that I had to return before 9 PM to pay for it. I agreed, although I chose not to pay immediately because that would have meant waiting another 45 minutes in line.
When I came back from the beach around 7 PM and tried to pay, the queue was still there and even longer than it had been in the morning. I left and returned again at 8:45 PM. This time I spoke with the security guard, who was visibly embarrassed about the situation and the excessive waiting time. He mentioned I had to pay in advance but also confirmed that I could do so at checkout.
After waiting another 45 minutes, even though reception should already have been closed, I was finally able to sit down and make the payment quickly. At that point, the older receptionist told me that I should be ashamed for coming so late and that it was my fault. She added that delays were due to a colleague being sick. This response made me really upset. After waiting a total of two hours in one day just to pay for a single extra night, I was finally able to settle the bill.
This has by far been the worst experience I have ever had at a campsite, and I would strongly advise others not...
Read moreIn October 2022 I was traveling together with my dog Ennio (flatcoated retriever) in a camper van through Portugal and Spain. When I was at Ericeira Camping I got seriously sick so that other guests had to call the security who called an ambulance that brought me to a hospital. The next day I had an emergency surgery of my appendix. While the other guests, a very friendly Austrian couple, took care of my my dog that night and the next morning they had to leave later that day to fly back home. We decided to leave Ennio with the campsite security staff as we didn’t know anyone else in Ericeira. The campsite manager Emanuel decided that Ennio couldn’t stay with the security staff and brought him to his private home, where he also had a dog and a huge garden. Of course I was informed about this step and I was asked for permission. Given that I knew that Ennio was in best hands I could ever hoped for I could undergo the surgery. I had to deal with a lot of things while I was in the hospital for five days but I always knew that Ennio was feeling well. Emanuel sent me Videos and photos with Ennio playing in the garden and sleeping in his bed so that i could keep track of it. These were always highlights of the day and a real pleasure to see. When I was able to leave the hospital Ennio and I were reunited at the campsite. I tried to offer some money to Emanuel for all his efforts and also to show my immense gratitude but (of course) he didn’t take it. Instead Ennio got his new bed from Emanuel as a gift and we could continue our trip, he now sleeping more comfy.
Again, I like to express my deeply felt gratitude to Emanuel, Cristina and and the entire family who were hosting Ennio in a perfectly. I wish life offers me the opportunity to help others in a desperate situation to make the world a little bit...
Read moreWe arrived around 4pm and went to the check in.
The receptionist seemed friendly but very expensive to camp for the night. 2 people and one very small 2 person tent cost around 32€. We were not allowed to park our car inside due to some odd reason even though there was so much room on our pitch.
To the negatives and there are alot: -We were told we could pitch anywhere that was free/no tents or people or looked like it was being used, so we chose a nice coozy spot on A9 because it is very shaded . The spot they "gave" us was very much in the sun and due to the heat, unbearable to camp there. So we set up our tent and took everything we needed out of the car, which took around an hour. We went to the reception and I told her we took A9... she told us there was someone camping there. After repeatedly saying, no, no one was camping there, there was no tent or anything that made it look like someone was camping there was there but she told us to move. Which was great because we already took an hour to unpack and now we would have to move? Anyways, we stayed there and didn't have any problem even though she booked us to A17. Which was in the sun again.
-The bathrooms weren't the cleanest... Urine around the bowl and stains too. Plus if you looked up to the window you could see in very clear view who was in there. Same with the showers. Not private at all or clean. There was even a piece of paper hanging there saying if you use to much water, the water might turn off...
-there was also loud music blaring and literally a party going on till 2am.
For the price we paid, definetly not the most amazing place at all.
To the positive: -The security were the most friendliest people I met there. Nothing bad about them.
I would definetly not recommend...
