Ericeira Paradise Hostel&Suites — Hotel in Mafra

To point out the pros - the location is great. The historical city center is a quick walk away and beach is just across the road. The house is in a gated complex with a wonderful coworking place / tennis club.

Now the cons (and the reason why I am giving 3 stars instead of a better rating) - the description of this accomodation on any website is misleading. The house is not shared just with the paying guests but also with 3 people who manage it. However, almost every day we met new random people who were coming in and out of the house and who were friends with the staff. It was more like visiting a young women’s dorm house than living in a small house hostel. I have to also lower the rating for very poor downstairs bathroom and insanely squeaky upstairs beds where you literally cannot breathe without them making a loud noise. We have seen reviews mentioning the poor bed quality all the way back in 2022 so it seems like the owner refuses to do...

This place is wonderful. Not only the house directly facing the soothing matadouro beach, being a 15’ walk to the center and a well-equiped kitchen made my stay so relaxed, also the girls taking care of all your needs and questions, keeping the place so clean and giving you this ‘welcome home’ feeling from the very moment you arrived. Thank you Lena, Elise, Amalie and Jojo for the great time at Paradise 🙏🏽💭🌷

The only thing when booking a twin room with shared bathroom, is to know in advance that this shared bathroom is shared with more rooms than only the two on the first floor (as this bathroom is bigger and newer than the one downstairs). Loved this hostel! My husband and I had a great stay. Despite being late to our check in time due to a flight delay, the volunteers greeted us with a warm welcome and were so accommodating for the rest of our stay. Always on hand for questions we had. This hostel is so homey and we felt so comfortable and relaxed. Our room had its own balcony which was beautiful and special. Clean rooms and the best part... the hostel lends you surf boards and wetsuits to have a go at the nearby beach (5 minute walk)! Really loved our stay and will be coming back on our next visit...
