Where do I even begin?
I spent 3 weeks at Ola Onda and it still felt like I didn’t have enough time. Since the second I arrived - I felt at home. Every detail in the interior design, the decorations and the overall vibe of Ola Onda fits Ericeira perfectly. It is so cozy and beautiful at the same time that you can’t help yourself but to relax immediately. But even more importantly Darcie, Jasper & Berto (my new best friend) are the nicest, most welcoming and charming hosts I have ever met. No matter what questions you might have or which activities you want to plan during your stay (yoga, surfing, biking, hiking, …) - they will help you with all of the details you need. On your arrival day they will also send you a link with a map they personally created on Google Maps which shows you all of their favorite surfing spots, restaurants, bars, etc. What better way to start your vacation then enjoying the locals favorite spots and skipping the tourist traps (even though there aren’t a lot of those in beautiful Ericeira). In the mornings you enjoy a delicious breakfast that offers everything you could wish for (Bread, Pastéis de Nata, Croissants, fresh fruit, cheese, granola, scrambled eggs, etc.) in the most peaceful environment (either sunny or a little cloudy but always beautiful and in company of Berto, the worlds sweetest dog). As if that wasn’t already enough, you also have access to a fridge with cooled drinks and some snacks throughout the whole day and the prices are more than fair.
Long story short: Personally, I found my favorite B&B in the whole world. Ola Onda was an overall perfect experience for me and l truly wish I could have stayed longer. I’ll definitely come back as soon as possible and I can only recommend this B&B to everyone who loves good food and even better company in a relaxed and cozy environment.
See you soon!!...
Read moreIt is hard to find words to describe how perfect the 12 days were that we recently spent at Ola Onda. I was solo parenting with two teens but Darcie and Jasper were so attentive in helping us to organise daily surfing and other trips and navigating all of the Covid hurdles. The guesthouse is quite beautiful as well as comfortable, with the minimal decor and splendid views of the sea so relaxing. We really enjoyed yoga by the pool, mountain biking through a beautiful local valley with delicious picnic and the promise of local boutique wine tasting (my son declared it the best thing he’d done all holiday!) and of course the expertly taught surfing lessons (special thanks should be given to the wonderfully encouraging coaches at @surfriders_pt). Despite not having a car, we also managed a trip to Sintra by bus which was simple, cheap and great fun. Well worth a day trip to the brightly-coloured Palacio.
Although the breakfasts at Ola Onda filled up two hungry teenagers, we also couldn’t resist the many great restaurants within walking distance- we would particularly recommend Avo for great Portuguese dishes, Calavera for late night tacos and margaritas, Toca da Caboz for huge steaks and fresh seafood and the churros van on the harbour for a post-surf sugar rush.
We loved the laid back vibe of Ericeira and are already planning our next trip to Ola Onda, which was the perfect base for exploring everything it...

You won’t find luxury or Instagrammable shots in every corner but the place feels right and the couple is welcoming and helpful. Definitely when it comes to surfing.||Rooms are airy and breezy a little Spartan and but with a Scandinavian/Dutch design feel . It’s not only Ikea (the beds) but also some encyclopedia images from ocean creatures, light wood and some flea market findings. Top rooms with seaview and a terrace are Vista and Veranda, some other might be smaller.||Bathrooms are nice, new spacious and with a nice brand new and strong walk-in shower.||The garden is pleasantly situated on the top of the hill around the house with plants and cacti and a small but pretty swimming pool (non-heated)||Breakfast has bread, croissants, pasteis de nata, fruit, some cereals, yoghurt etc||The village is at the coast so a 10 mins stroll down and a 15 mins walk up ;-)||We visited as a family (2 weeks) but mist guests are younger couples...
