Maciel — Hotel in Peniche

Stayed 2 nights in 2 different rooms were told by Rosa(owner) check in was 12pm when we arrived to check in her daughter who was rude, aragant and condescending informed us check in was 3pm. |First room clean with large comfortable bed. Was advertised with aircon but only had a fake one which made room hotter. |Second room was tiny with small|very uncomfortable bed we could feel the springs in mattress, not even a fake aircon.|Breakfast was reasonable.|Good location in town nowhere near beach as advertised. Wouldn't recommend this place I was especially annoyed with the bad attitude of the owners daughter, and can't understand why these people couldn't spend some of their exorbitant taffif on replacing the...

Spent 1 night here.. very nice location. Parking is whatever is available on the street. This is a wonderful area to explore, we wish we had another day here. Recently renovated, the room was very clean. The gentleman working the desk was friendly and helpful. It is a very good value, but know that the room is barely larger than the 2 twin beds put together to make it a "king bed". The restroom was large and satisfactory, other than the shower head that didn't seem to work correctly. Breakfast was included & adequate but limited (in fairness, it is low season & I think there were very few guests so it would have been a waste to put much more food out). It was the worst stay of our holidays. We wanted to have a nice weeked in Peniche and relax in a nice Hostel. I booked at "Maciel" because of the good recommendations. The hostel rooms are directly at the street, so it is noisy in the night. The room they gave us had a disgusting smell of toliet, we complained but they just denied and did not believe us. The breakfast is made with cheapest ingredients, with dry bread, instant coffee and tab water (with chlor-taste) for drinking. Absolutely no recommendation! Don´t get tricked like us...
