I have eaten at many Indian restaurants across many countries and was disappointed by the quality of the food and the lack of taste. A few examples would be the mixed platter appetizer which was a range of greasy deep fried items. Mmm yummy. Or the Fish Curry. So I have eaten many fish curries both in India and elsewhere across the world. This was the first time the fish has been battered and deep fried then added to a curry sauce. Have they never heard of cooking the fish in the sauce like everywhere else. Maybe it is just me, but the standard of cooking ( and the resultant taste) is woefully below anything I would choose to eat. Popadoms- typically served with pickles. Not here- three squeezy plastic bottles with liquid goo were offered instead to squirt onto them.
Peshwari Naan. Hmm. It was completely taste free. Such a disappointment.
I am sorry to ever give a bad rating and usually only give four or five stars, but the food quality and taste is so below par that out of the literally thousands of Indian restaurants I have eaten at across the world this one ranks at the very bottom.
Two stars was generous and because the staff are very friendly. The food qualifies for one star.
I would not return, and if it is really the best Indian food in the area as a few others have commented then I would make either my own at home or stop eating...
Read moreMe and my partner love Indian food, but this time it was a terrible experience. First of all we waited about 20 minutes for a table, which is kind of acceptable for a busy place. After that we waited about 20 minutes for the menus. Meanwhile one of the waiter was very rude with me, still we were very hungry and decided to wait for the food. After that a disaster.... 3 customers were about to be served before us and we had to stand up and asked please to be served. Finally the food arrived, but unfortunately the veggy starter was cooked without salt and tasted terribly. The sauces seemed like McDonald's, there was no chutney with pappadums and one of the main dishes was cold and just a replica of the starter just with sauce. In the second main dish the vegetables were raw and in general didn't taste good. It's the first time that we didn't finished or take away the food. At the end we asked for an ashtray and they gave us one full with other people's cigarettes. The only good thing was the beer. Overpriced for what we had, bad waiter service and bad food....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Maharani Peniche, and it was an absolute delight for the senses. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that set the tone for a memorable experience.
The menu offered a delightful array of Indian delicacies, and I must say, the samosas were nothing short of perfection. Crispy on the outside, and filled with a delectable blend of spices and potatoes, they were an ideal appetizer to kick off the culinary journey.
But the real star of the evening was the chicken tikka masala. The moment the dish arrived at the table, the aromatic spices tantalized my senses. The tender chicken pieces were generously coated in a creamy, rich tomato-based sauce that had the perfect balance of flavors. Each bite was a symphony of taste that left me craving for more.
The service was exceptional and i definitely going to come back...
