TOURIST TRAP. Full of shady practices. Just skip it (and most of the restaurants in that road) Lots of stuff delivered w/o being ordered. They try pushing you stuff that would be free in other places. Don’t touch them. Misleading menu, makes you believe the prices are per dish. No!. They charge the food based on weight, w/o weighing in front of you. 15th century type of scam. I saw this being mentioned nowhere. Despicable. Outrageous pricing. We’ve found the same type of food 1/3rd of the price only 2 blocks away. E.g., 60 Euros for a dish of rice and mussels for a single person. They seem to assume you’re an idiot. Slow service. We ordered. 20-30 min later, they show up asking if the weight of the (raw) fish was acceptable. I.e., after half an hour they hadn’t even started cooking! Small side dishes. Part of the main dish, they are minimalist and you’re likely to have to complement. We did, but not in this restaurant - the first attempt was already bad enough. Very noisy inside. I can’t emphasize this enough. Kids menu not shown/available. It’s secret (LOL). I mean it, that was the explanation. They will offer you something. Then pray to get something that’s actually decent. We didn’t take the bate, finally sharing ours with our kids… Frankly, I’m amazed this place is allowed to stay open. Poor food presentation. I get the same is any (very) cheap restaurant anywhere. The food was somewhat tasty, and decent ingredients. Not compatible with the price, but not bad. And nobody felt sick later nor the day after. So...
Read moreWe absolutely loved our experience at O Pedro! The food was delicious from start to finish. My partner said his fish was “the best fish I’ve ever had,” and I had the squid — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Our kids devoured their carbonara pasta and house steak with homemade fries, which is no small feat. We had to wait a little bit (our fault for not dressing warm enough to sit outside!), but the place was packed the entire time — a great sign. Despite the rush, the staff were constantly on the move: serving, cleaning, helping, smiling — genuinely warm and helpful. Out of curiosity, I looked up the reviews and saw it has a 4.1 rating with nearly 3,000 reviews. In our opinion, it deserves much more. Many of the lower ratings are outdated (some over 4 years old), and after reading them, we joked that they were written by people just looking for something to complain about! Our guess? The place has had a recent shift in management or energy — it feels like someone gave it new life without pushing the older staff aside. There are still waiters who don’t speak much English, but they’re kind and fast-paced. The younger blond woman — who spoke excellent English and was incredibly welcoming — turns out to be the owner. She clearly knows this place inside and out, and she’s running it beautifully. Excellent food, fast and friendly service, and great value. This is a place that’s clearly on the rise, and it no longer deserves just 4.1 stars....
Read moreThis was one of my worst food experiences ever. The restaurant itself gave off a really great vibe, nice and bright large windows looking out on the street and water way .the food was a whole different story. There were five of us and our order was as follows: 1 grilled squid, the body wasn't cleaned properly and the tentacles were signed so you had that burnt taste.1 whole bream that was grilled almost until it was crispy, 2 portions of grouper which was good but they didn't want to be left with 200 GM piece tried to sell us the whole 800gm piece for €54 instead of € 36, a last was the house steak. It was order medium rare with the mushroom sauce on the side. The meat arrived looking par boiled with a large blob of uncooked piece of fat attached. Well I was unable to contain my self, I took the plate kitchen muttering angrily all the way. I was intercepted by the manager just as I reached the the kitchen door and as what was wrong. I told him that I didn't come here to teach there staff how to cook and he could keep his steak. He then put me in the promised land and he would rectify it. There's a reason why it's called the promised land. Anyway €108 later we left. Definitely avoid this one if you value your meal ....
