LightPoint — Hotel in Porto

A nice hostel but a pity their customer service is so bad. I asked for my booking to be moved on by a day and the hostel said they couldn't do it on their end and to contact booking.com and that it wouldn't be a problem. booking.com were very helpful but said the hostel would accept my request but that I'd have to pay over three times the original cost of my room. This despite the fact that same room was available on booking.com for the original price! I was not impressed to say the least. Of course there was no response when I contacted the hostel via email for the third time. When I complained about being given this ridiculous run around at the front desk, Anna was very polite but didn't do anything about the situation. So I paid for the 'extra' night. Which I don't really mind, just don't give me a runaround or overcharge me. Also only one shower for a 12 bed male dorm?! On a positive note, a very modern hostel with as I said, very friendly staff. I give this place 5 stars because they gave me outstanding customer service. On my way to Lisbon I realized that I forgot my passport and housekey in the safety box in my room. When I called they immediately checked it and offered to send me a scan of my passport. I didn't even ask for it. They asked me if I needed it and sent me by email 2 min later. They also went to the post office and sent me my passport and housekey to me in Lisbon so I didn't have to go back to Porto. They went out and beyond their duty to help me out and because of that they truly deserve 5 stars. Their only little flaw was that the stairs to climb up the bunk bed was challenging. But the customer service they gave me with fixing my passport problem outshines any small adjustment they might need. I don't think many hostels would use their extra precious time to go to the post office so for everyone that's looking for a hostel in Porto go...

What an incredible place! I didn't expect much for the 14€ I paid for a form bed, but this is a palace. Newly renovated, super elegant and cosy, a great rooftop terrace to chill out on. Every bed comes with its own locker, charging outlet and drapes for privacy, the showers are made for royalty, and there's a cute bar and restaurant downstairs as well.
