Ndussole Guest House — Hotel in Porto

More towards 4.5. I had a good stay. Not giving full 5/5 only because some facilities were a little old, but still functional. It was a good location because it was less than 5mins walk to Campanha train and bus terminals. But quite a bit of walk to central, or touristy, Porto. But I enjoyed the walk and didn't feel the need to catch a bus. And the accommodation was not far from the bus stop to catch the bus to the touristy areas. I was checked in by a lady, who didn't speak much English, but there was no issue as what we couldn't both understand ofv each other, she clarified by using a translator on the phone. I didn't feel unsafe at all, being a small female of Chinese descent - 3 things that most bullies and aggressors look for. I actually liked that it wasn't so busy and the people around seemed very community-minded. They were no keys, but you were given a code if you were to return after hours, when the front door was shut and locked. And there was no key to the room as there was always foot traffic in/out of the rooms. (And I don't have much valuables, so I carry my passport and money on my person. As places tend to want to check your passport for tours, travels, accommodation, SIM card, etc anyway.) If you needed something, just ask. They might be able to help. (And don't malign them in the reviews after the fact.) I asked them about a laundromat around the area as I didn't see on the booking that they had laundry services, but the lady told me they were able to do it by their washing...

I’m giving this place a 5 stars, not because it’s a 5 star hotel, but because it’s a CHEAP hostel! For 30€ for two people for a night in Porto, you can’t really get much better. The hostel itself is very basic, but it is also clean, which is important. We arrived around 11:30pm, and the man that welcomed us (I forget his name) was extremely kind. He welcomed us even after their check in hours and showed us to our room. The next morning, he gave us a proper tour of the hostel and told us that we were always welcome to come back. He let us store our bags there for the day while we went out to explore Porto after checkout time, and were able to come back and pick up our bags before we left for a new city. There were two cleaning ladies there when we got back and they were also extremely kind!

Even though this hostel may not be the nicest and most up to date hostel, it is clean, conveniently located, and has very kind staff!

(We were a little worried to book this hostel because of the reviews saying there were bed bugs, but we checked our bed and there were no signs of bed bugs and everything was very clean. There was even a towel on each of our beds!)

I recommend this hostel if you’re looking for cheap...

Gostei muito do serviço personalizado que o rapaz novo me deu desde o check in até ao mostrar como funciona, hostei do espaço especialmenteda cama até ao amostrar os cantos à casa as regras do estabelecimento. Oferem toalhas para tomar banho, a roupa da cama é muito quentinha e cheirosa, têm cozinha para cozinhar e 2 casas de banho com sanita, chuveiro, gel de banho e champô. Gostei do espaço para a minha primeira vez a ficar num hostel no Porto mas tem um porém. Passei uma noite lá e nessa noite houve uma situação desagradável que não gostei e tive para me chatear com um dos hóspedes que era de origem árabe, indiana, romena que estava aos gritos feito parvo com alguém ao telemóvel perto das 22h, hora que não se pode fazer barulho estando a desrespeitar as regras do estabelecimento e o bem estar dos outros hóspedes. Tendo isto acontecido veio o rapaz que me fez o check in para cuidar da situação se não ia haver molho entre ele e eu porque, estava cansado e tinha uma entrevista de trabalho no dia seguinte e temos que ter respeito pelas pessoas. Este homem com má conduta e uma grande falta de respeito falou mal com 2 dos convidados que estavam a falar entre eles que lhe chamaram à atenção para ter respeito e fazer pouco barulho, este começou aos berros com eles is dois e o rapaz que me fez o check in. Outra situação que não gostei foi o fato que de estes 2 hóspedes depois da situação que descrevi ter acontecido às 22h hora que não podem fazer barulho porque há pessoas que vão trabalhar ou até viajar entre outras ocasiões sem estarem no Porto de férias para fazer turismo estavam a fazer barulho ao falar um bocado alto e o rapaz retornou ao andar de baixo, para adverter os dois hóspedes pediu para não fazerem barulho e respeitarem as pessoas e falarem mais baixo pedido este que não foi respeitado e continuaram a falar no mesmo tom só depois do rapaz ir ao andar de baixo tratar de alguma avisou os pela segunda vez para não fazerem barulho outra vez! Só nesta segunda vez é que respeitaram o pedido do rapaz e começaram a ter respeito pelos outros hóspedes. Dito isto não tenho mais nada a me queixar, deixo um lembrete para o rapaz que me recebeu e fez o check in. Não sei se vais ver este comentário mas deixo te uma lição de vida que te vai dar jeito no futuro tens de ser mais autoritário e condescendente às vezes com as pessoas na vida em situações que o exige só desta maneira as pessoas começam a ter conduta e mais respeito quer seja por ti ou pelos outros.
