There hasn't been a recent review so I thought I would show this place some love. We stayed here 2 nights in June 2022 and had a very comfortable clean stay. Our attic room was bigger in person and had all the dishes, towels, hairdryer, plugs we needed along with a modestly priced mini bar. All the attractions are within a 20 min walk to the furthest points, many are even closer. We were able to come back midday, drop off shopping bags and rest, and be out again for dinnner. The street was relatively quiet at night considering we're in an urban environment. Plenty of convenience stores and restaurants within a few blocks, along with a mini laundromat 3 blocks away (self serve 1.90e or drop-off for 4.90e includes soap). |The hotel has only a few rooms and is spotlessly clean with elegant MCM furnishings. The staff are accommodating and minimalist at the same time, and available via whattspp if you're away from the hotel and need local tips. Definitely utilize their expertise! The restaurant recommendations were excellent, and I would have been too shy to enter those local-looking establishments if it wasn't for their strong urging assurance.|Breakfast was what I consider European style with some rustic beads, fresh juice and coffee, and fruit and yogurt. We left very early our last morning and the staff put some to-go breakfast in our room beforehand so we wouldn't miss out. Thoughtful touches like this make me feel taken care of like a real guest.| Sheets and towels were starchy clean which I like. Bed was so comfy we slept in an extra hour everyday by accident. It was the last leg of our vacation and it made a great room to recharge in and feeling unrushed.|It was a little hard to find (inconspicuous is their branding) and it was hard to catch an airport uber on our last morning which made me wish we utilized their airport transfer even with the slightly higher price tag than uber. We were there during a local festival so uber was unusually scarce. Those are minor items though. We would stay again, this place suited our needs as two adults traveling multi-stop around Portugal. Thank you...
Read moreMy wife and I flew into Santiago and took an excursion to Porto via bus. It was a 3.5 hour bus journey but quite comfortable and well worth it. The front desk closes early and we got to the hotel late but it was no problem as Laura gave us the codes to get into the hotel and our room. The room was more like a suite with bed, sofa, kitchenette and large bathroom with old style tub/shower. The kitchen had the basics for cooking but more importantly a small fridge. There is also a kettle for tea or coffee (coffee, tea, snacks and Port are provided but cost extra. The bed was extremely comfortable and cannot fault the room whatsoever. The breakfast is very small but adequate to start the day and you can get eggs to order if you ask. Laura was extremely helpful and worked very hard to make our stay there as comfortable as possible. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the metro station where you can get to and from the airport and maybe 15 to 20 minute walk from the main train station and is mostly up hill. There are ubers and taxis also so plenty or ways to get to and from. There is a food market within 5 minutes walking and plenty of restaurants equally close. It is also probably a 20 to 25 minute walk to the river front where there are also lot's of restaurants etc. Lot's of hills but again there are taxis and Uber available. Porto is a great 2 to 3 day town and if your staying more, Laura can arrange excursions as well to winery's etc. Our experience was good food, good wine, and lot's to see with a great hotel to come back to and relax. Thanks...
Read moreWhile Malmerendas may come across as a nice hospitable business, they have poor business practices and should not be trusted. ||||My girlfriend and I traveled to Porto at the beginning of July. We were given the room at the top. It was blazing hot and well over 90 degrees Fahrenheit even with the air conditioned running that couldn't handle the heat. We asked them for a portable ac unit or a fan to help. They couldn't give us anything and the heat got no better. It was cooler in the hallway and the bathroom than it was in the room itself. ||||We asked if we could get a refund and move to Hotel Bessa across the street (which was a much nicer hotel with AC that actually worked). They agreed and said that their account manager would process the refund the following week. That refund never came despite giving them my Swift number and account number. I followed up every week for a month and nothing. The hotel staff would apologize and were always very apologetic but still no refund. ||||I told them that if I didn't get the refund by the one month mark from our original booking then I would dispute the charge with my bank. I did so and despite EVERY MESSAGE stating that they agreed to the refund and would process it, they FOUGHT THE DISPUTE. They told my bank that they sent the payment to my BNY Melon account which is funny because I hold no such account at that bank. ||||DON'T STAY HERE. They cannot be trusted and have turned out to be seriously deficient of any and all...
