Quinta das Eiras — Hotel in Santa Cruz

We stayed here for our last tow nights of a hplida walking on Funchal . A hire car is needed to get to the place. We stayed in one of the cabins on stilts, however it was attached to another cabin, and the bottom of both cabins was enclosed as storage aea, meaning that we had nowhere outside to sit when it was raining (most of the other cabins had a patio area under the cabin. Basic cooking equipment is included, and a TV- no reception, with a few DVD's - only 2 werent damaged or missing. We had issues with no hot water, which we had to rectify ourselves as the owner was away. This meant that everytime we wanted hot water - to shower or wash dishes or for heating - we had to traverse the ladder opening up to the cabin to reset the boiler. plenty of hot water when this was done, but not ideal. As such it was cold in the mornings (8 degrees). Also no beach, nor pool, nor wifi - Airbnb description needs updating. The bed was comfy, the owner friendly, lovely gardens, and it is only a 20 minute drive to Pico Ariero to watch sunrise. This chalet at 56 euros per night was more expensive than the lovely 4 star hotels we had been staying in with b&b service. It's got potenial to be lovely but isn't...

AVOID AND IF YOU HAVE A RESERVATIONS HERE JUST CANCEL IT, TRUST ME. I booked a cabin for 9 nights (NINE) for me and my girlfriend, and since there weren't pictures about bathroom and parking I asked via booking app for more, never got an answer. 2 days before my flight (TWO DAYS) the host contacted me regarding a problem I HAD with my reservation. First of all, I see a price, I pay for it and there isn't a single problem I can have on mine, unless I don't show or my card got rejected (but that doesn't happen if I pay months in advance). He then basically asked for more money (which he can't do) but I'm not that stupid. We had to contact booking assistance to get a full refund and an authorized second reservation in another hotel where I have to pay the entire cost first, and then ask for the difference as refund. That means I need A LOT OF MONEY just for a reservation and will get it back maybe in a week or two. I'm expecting to solve it and booking really helped me but the host is what I call a SCAMMER. 0* stars option was made for places like this, if you are looking for a place to sleep and rest, to cook, to enjoy nature, don’t come here! Really expensive place for what is offered and I will have to pay now a chiropractor to recover after sleeping on that 20 years old spring mattress, both me and my girlfriend we could not sleep and even worst we had back pain for the rest of our trip. WiFi does not work, kitchen is not equipped we had to cook with silver spoons and wash all the pots and plates before using. Loud sink and fridge, so you can’t hear the peace of “nature”. This place is a SCAM, and I haven’t even talked about our host Luis, who answers your messages late and always find excuses for his incompetence, I would be ashamed to rent a place like this to human beings. Only positive note the cleaning lady and the cat Saphira they are cute and welcoming, the host does not deserve them.
