Where do I start.... I'll start the review with explaining an issue that I faced then will rate the room, location and food.
I booked this hotel and flight as a package via Qatar Holidays. On Qatar Holidays website they did not have options to select rooms. So I emailed the hotel 3 x and also messaged them on Instagram as I had a few questions, but no response at all.
Upon checking-in we were given a room that smelt like smoke, usually the hotel ask you if you want a smoking/non-smoking room but not this receptionist. My wife is pregnant and I also suffer from asthma so this was a no no. Anyway room got changed instantly.
I then complained the next day to guest relations and they "upgraded our room" moving us from the 6th floor to the 9th floor, which was now a "Sea room". But as you can see from the images, the window is so dirty it's hardly even a sea room. I appreciated the staffs response and acknowledgement of the issue and attempt to make a change. We then also had another issue where the cleaner left the hotel door open after cleaning. I have no idea how long it stayed open for, as we were out for a good 6 hours. Nothing got stolen from the room, but extremely careless.
Room 3/5. 1 start taken off due to the dirty windows that shouldn't be classed as a sea room. Another 1 star taken off as the fridge in the room was terrible, it seemed it operated at 9 degrees, nothing ever stayed cold. Apart from that, shower was big, nice bathtub and room generally was nice.
Food 2/5. Breakfast was quite basic, same thing everyday for all the 9 nights we stayed. We had full board, lunch options were limited, so never had lunch. Had dinner once, which is a set menu that doesn't change. Not something you can have everyday unless you're happy eating the similar things everyday! Food portions were massive which is good!
Catering staff 5/5. Really helpful, caring and nice catering staff. These guys really made the experience better in light of the issues I faced.
Location 3/5. About a 4 min walk to nearest tram station. 6 min walk to Place vendome Mall. I personally didn't like the location, when I stayed in Souk Wakif that was better as you were in the city center and faster to get to other locations on the other train lines. So please do think about this carefully.
If I hadn't faced the issues I would of given...
Read moreMy family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Century Marina in Lusail, Qatar, and I must say, our experience was delightful. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming receptionist, Nadia, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort throughout our stay.
One of the standout features of Century Marina is the convenience of both on-site parking and free valet parking services. This was a great relief for us, as it eliminated any stress associated with finding parking in a bustling city like Lusail.
Upon check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to be offered free upgrades to our rooms. This generous gesture added an extra touch of luxury to our stay, and we truly appreciated the hotel's commitment to providing excellent service.
The package we availed of included a sumptuous breakfast, which catered to all tastes and dietary requirements. The variety of options available ensured that everyone in our family enjoyed a satisfying start to their day.
The swimming pool amenities provided an enjoyable way to beat the summer heat, although it was a bit crowded during our stay due to the holiday season. Nonetheless, the staff ensured that everyone had a pleasant time and maintained a clean and safe environment.
In each of our rooms, we were delighted to find a welcome fruit basket and high-quality toiletries. These small touches added a personalized and luxurious feel to our stay. The rooms themselves were comfortable, well-appointed, and offered magnificent views from the 10th floor.
Century Marina's location near the waterfront and opposite Vendome Mall is a definite advantage. We enjoyed leisurely walks by the water, exploring nearby attractions, and indulging in some retail therapy. The accessibility to a wide range of dining options and entertainment venues made our stay more enjoyable.
In conclusion, our experience at Century Marina in Lusail, Qatar, was nothing short of exceptional. The hospitable staff, advantageous location, and thoughtful amenities made our stay memorable and enjoyable. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming...
Read moreWe had a 2 night stay for our anniversary. When we arrived, the lady at reception was not sure about our booking, when we said that we received confirmation, she asked if we booked before we came, when we actually booked 7 days before. She was not very polite, rolling her eyes at some stage as well. As for the room, the plugs are in odd places, I had to unplug the lamp to charge my phone. We were also not informed that the room had a small kitchen area, so we didn’t plan before to take things to cook, so we had to make a trip to the shop (basically it was self catering). Whenever we would empty the bath tub, it would leak and have the whole bathroom wet, when we informed the frontdesk staff when we left, they said it ‘regularly happens’, which in my opinion is bad and could be a safety hazard. In general the hospitality was not off good taste, as we had 1 toiletpaper roll in the room and had to phone for more. The room has a kitchen but no cutlery and crockery. When we booked, we informed about it being our anniversary when we booked, and in most hotels where we have stayed, they would do something a bit special without extra charges, I was contacted 2 days before check in to ask if we want anything extra done, we should pay 400 extra, and it includes ‘towel patterns’ which in my opinion, should be a standard, special occasion or not! I am definitely not one for ‘freebies’ but if you want your hotel to be the ‘best’ , at least do some extras, especially since the standard rooms are 450 per night. Yes breakfast were included, and the staff in the restaurant area was amazing and helpful. Wide variety of options and fresh food too. To some it all up, I think this hotel is more for business trips and not necessarily for...
