Occasion: Friday Brunch. 4 people
Positives The team were very good to accommodate our table change request as our large group of 11 was reduced to 5 on the day itself. The communication before by the front desk team were very prompt and attentive. The hostess who was assigned to our arrival was very friendly, explained the menu to us suggesting we share the starters between us and quick to serve us drinks
Improvement points - music level. Throughout the duration the music volume (both live band and other) was altered due to being too loud. A one time adjustment would have been forgiven, however, it was multiple times that the music was up and down being changed. fire/smoke alarm being set off several times throughout the brunch was not ideal. Having a loud and uncomfortable sound pierce your ears several times over lunch was not a good impression. starters. We ordered all the beef and reef options (no leaf). Starters came promptly and overall were very tasty. Sharing them all between us was a good idea and selection was varied. Only feedback would be if the staff can wait slightly longer before clearing - we would take the last piece and they would come to clear the empty plate and accomplish sauce very swiftly which we had asked not to so we could still dip in the sauces! mains. We ordered 3 steak and 1 salmon with mix of sides. After our starters were complete, we were immediately asked if we wanted our mains. We had been there less than an hour so we asked to wait 5-10 minutes more to give time to digest the starter and allow a break. The mains then didn’t arrive for another 45 minute which we then had to chase as we were under the impression from the staff it was coming much sooner. 2 of the 3 steaks were good. 1 steak (my own) was full of gristle and fat and hardly edible. The salmon was also extremely dry/overcooked (shared amongst us to try my friend couldn’t eat it) . Half the salmon was left along with the majority of the bad steak. The wait staff came to clear and did not see two guests hadn’t eaten because of their bad meal. They did not ask for feedback so my friend pointed out to our waitress we were disappointed with the main once she came back to top up drinks. After 20/30 minutes the male supervisor came over to address us asking I wanted a replacement steak. By this point, we had finished eating some 45 minutes ago and I instead asked for a glass of champagne which he kindly agreed to. This also did not arrive for some time and when it did, it was prosecco (not champagne). additional small comment from the group collectively is that for the main courses, there is not a huge selection of choose from.
Few other smaller issues but I am out of characters for this review.
Overall, the experience was very disappointing as a first impression. I was looking to reschedule again the original group of 11 people for brunch but I will not be returning with them for the brunch based on this experience. With so many challenges for a group of 4 and the atmosphere not living up to the expectation I would feel uncomfortable...
Read moreTwo stars is good enough for this place just because I didn't have rude staff. I'm the type of person that'll give a review based off of exceptional service and food or extremely poor service and food. This place was an underwhelming experience. As a connoisseur of steak and an extreme foodie who has dined from Michelin star restaurants across the globe to mom and pop restaurants, dining here is not the best experience I've had at a restaurant and probably the most lackluster experience I've had in Doha at a restaurant. There was barely people in the restaurant but the service was lacking. I've dined in a ton of establishments in my 10 months here at Doha because I'm a DieHard fan of food, love to try different dishes and love The hard-working, very friendly and attentive staff. The staff here just seems like they were very nonchalant. I don't know if it was because I'm an American or the fact that I'm not Arabic that I didn't get paid too much attention, but something is definitely off here in this restaurant. The maitre d at a high-end restaurant knows to go greet everyone at every table to make sure they're having a good experience, I only saw one guy approach a table that seems like it was a group of regulars and he also attended to the gentleman that were at the upstairs area. Here's a tip to the staff, If someone is dropping more than $200 US at your establishment, You better make sure that they get top notch service. If I'm ordering a 10 oz (300g) filet, The cook on it should be right the first time. That was a $96 filet from Australia and I got a better one at the cheesecake factory at the Vendom Mall in Doha. I didnt expect to wait 30 minutes after I've ordered my steak for it to come out rare. The parmesan truffle fries need to be tossed in a bowl with Parmesan flakes and truffle oil, not just sprinkled with truffle oil once on the plate. The hamachi appetizer with truffle was good. It just lacked a slice of jalapeno for a little spice. The waygu gyoza was nice but needed a bit of salt. By the way if I order a gyoza or hamachi, there should be chopsticks at the table. I saw chopsticks at all of the tables upstairs And so some people's with chopsticks but I didn't get offered any for my himachi and gyoza. Usually fine dining establishments offer something complimentary from the chef and there was nothing here. Those little extra touches make places memorable and keep people coming back. And 1400 QAR for a tomahawk steak is absolutely ridiculous! Go to the Westin or Marriott marquis for a reasonably priced tomohawk that's very good. The music is not the type for that type of establishment, it was Euro whatever beats music and it was loud. A friend recommended this place to me because they know I like good food and never worry about the price, but they really set me up with this one. I'm a regular at a lot of hotel resturants in Doha that I love the service, atmosphere and food. this place is not it! I don't recommend, you could find another place in Doha/Lusail with better service and better food at...
Read moreThe brunch had a wide variety of options to choose from, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. From fresh salads and savory Appetizers to mouthwatering Steaks and decadent desserts, there was something for everyone. The quality of the food was top-notch, with fresh ingredients and expertly prepared dishes.
As for the live band, they were incredibly talented and brought a lot of energy to the event. Their music selection was diverse, ranging from popular hits to classic favorites. They had a great stage presence and engaged with the audience, creating an interactive and enjoyable experience. The band members were skilled musicians, and their passion for music was evident in their performance.
The combination of the delicious food and the live music created a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. It added an extra element of entertainment to the brunch, making it more than just a meal. Whether you wanted to relax and enjoy the music or get up and dance, the live band provided the perfect soundtrack for the occasion.
