Pensiunea Joker — Hotel in Sighișoara

Romania was one of the friendliest places I have travelled. This hotel was the apex of that experience. The man who greeted us went out of his way to make sure we were happy and welcome in our rooms and in Romania. We had told him we were running late earlier and he was as friendly as ever upon our 2100ish arrival. He recommended a very good place to eat down the street that was open late. We parked in the hotel parking spots right outside the place and he kindly allowed us to keep our car parked there as we explored the city the next day. The rooms were modern and comfortable with good wi-fi. We did not try out the hotel breakfast as we were pretty tired from our drive the day before. When we returned from exploring the city later in the day the same gentleman gave me a couple clothes he had found in my room nicely folded and placed in a plastic bag. We were there on the first week of September. We got there with no reservation and the guy at the reception was very kind and nice, recommending us good restaurants and quickly finding us a room. Room was very clean as well as the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. The Hôtel is like 5-10min walk to the “entrance” of the medieval part of the town, which is very convenient.

I gave it 4 stars because when we asked them to use the A/C they told us we would have to pay an extra fee for it. We found it really weird, never seen it before. It was a hot day and we preferred not to pay extra because the room isn’t that cheap. My stay was here for 2 weeks during the autumn of 2014. The facilities were good, and very clean for Romanian standards. Extra services were offered like laundry and breakfast. No cooking facilities in the room were needed because of the many low-cost restaurants nearby. The local dairy (small shop) was around the corner. Centre of town was a short 5min walk. Free parking in front, free Wifi for guests. We had 24 hour security(housekeeping) on site (there was a group of us, not sure if that is always available).
