We first discovered Teo’s Cellar in 2019, tucked into the heart of Sighișoara’s medieval citadel. From the moment we stepped into their guest house and their cellar, Teo and his family extended such warm hospitality that we felt like being welcomed into old friends’ home. His passion for Romanian tradition shines through every aspect of the experience. Fast forward to 2025, we returned, not as boyfriend & girlfriend any more - this time to stock up before our wedding with some of the golden liquid, drawn again to Teo’s exceptional creations. His unique brandies and liqueurs aren’t just good; they are award-winning (gold, silver, and bronze medals) at international spirits salons and fairs. Some call it “medicine” 😍 We sampled everything - from velvety plum palinca to fragrant forest fruit liqueurs - each sip richer than the last. Teo’s pride and storytelling elevated the tasting into a cultural journey. Nestled within a 500‑ to 700‑year-old cellar, the setting itself is magical - stone walls, wooden barrels, the medieval ambiance all around . We came with guests from Arizona, US, and they have raved about how the hoast presents the cellar unique flavors, proudly displaying gold medals and the history of the place. Our return visit, reminded us why Teo’s place is a must in Sighișoara. His warmth, his spirits, and the authenticity he’s so keen on preserving, all combined to create an experience that’s equal parts cultural immersion and heartfelt celebration. We left with several bottles - and a deep appreciation for Teo’s craftsmanship and love for Romanian tradition. For anyone seeking genuine hospitality, top-tier spirits, and a living glimpse into Romania’s medieval soul, Teo’s Cellar stands alone - truly deserving of a gold‑medal...

Teo’s Cellar is truly a hidden gem that you absolutely must visit when in Sighișoara! I had one of the most genuine and heartwarming experiences here, thanks to Mister Teo, an incredibly passionate, friendly, and customer oriented man. Honestly, he felt like that favourite uncle everyone wishes they had, welcoming, warm, and full of stories.
He kindly invited me to taste several shots of his locally brewed pălincă, and I was blown away by the taste and depth of flavour. Each sip felt like a celebration of tradition and craftsmanship. I ended up buying three bottles, and to my surprise and delight, he even gifted me the last bottle of a limited-edition batch, a truly special gesture that meant a lot.
Teo’s family has been perfecting this craft for over 200 years, and you can feel that heritage in every drop. The cellar itself, or pivniță, as it's called in Romanian, is beautifully arranged, cozy, and full of character. When I first arrived, no one was around, but I looked up for his nr on Google maps and gave Teo a quick call, and he answered immediately and came over with a big smile, welcoming me personally.
If you're visiting Sighișoara, do not miss this place. Stop by Teo’s Cellar for an authentic taste of Transylvania, to meet a remarkable man, and to take home something truly special. An...
Read moreTeo's Cellar is a tad off the beaten path in downtown Sighisoara, on a street next to the Covered stairways!
It's a hidden gem, a guesthouse and a cellar, all located within the same roof of an old family house that Teo, the owner restored with great love, care and taste. One of the room features a mural left over from 1300-s! The rooms are cozy, very clean, nicely furnished, comfortable, with great views of wonderful sunsets.
The courtyard is charming and decorated with fun attention to details.
The cellar is unique, Teo has own competitions of traditional plum brandy (and not only) that his family makes for generations. You can taste, sample, buy some as gifts and souvenirs. Teo is the nicest host, a wonderful person, kind, positive, open, welcoming. He greeted us with open arms and gave us some complimentary Visinata (berry brandy), the best we ever had.
If in Sighisoara, stay at Teo's Cellar or at least pop in for some tasting and a chat with Teo! Great place, leaves a...
