Pensiunea Europa — Hotel in Targu Mures Metropolitan Area

I booked via Booking.com. Check-in was fast. The bed was comfortable and I liked the large pillow. The room was quiet after 9:30. First night we were looking for a place to eat and we almost left because the restaurant was empty, food cannot be good in an empty restaurant, right? Boy, was I wrong. I know Hungarian and Romanian food and this was some of the best I have ever had. For the next 4 days we ate every meal except one here (if it ain’t broke don’t fix it)|I would recommend: Ciorba de burta, Ciorba țărănească de vaca, Trout in any form, try mamaliga (polenta) in some form, Mititei are a must! Tochitura. |Dessert: Papanaș, Vargabéles are top notch but the crepe is also very good. The house red was unbelievable (especially for the price). They explained to me that their main business is hosting events and as a result the main restaurant is often not open to the public but now they have a closed off terrace on le level higher. I stayed at the Europa for almost 1 week and had a lovely time there. It is located very close to the city centre, the main shopping areas and bus and train stations, although sadly, the bus to Cluj which previously departed just down the road, now leaves from the other side of town. All the staff, receptionists, waiting staff and cleaners were very helpful and professional and the room I stayed in was comfortable and quiet. The choice of options for breakfast was very good, and from previous experience, I rate the food in the restaurant at other times very highly. I have stayed in a few hotels and pensions in the city and the Europa would probably suit me best in terms of comfort, value and being a bit more traditional than some of the newer kids on the block. We stayed only a night here, room and bathroom were nice and clean, air conditioner worked well and the location was very close to town center.
