I chose this hotel for its location and rating. And actually, only the location is great. ||||The service is very poor. About language first: very few people among the hotel staff, including the waiters at the restaurant, speak well enough English. Moreover, the documents you can find in room and the menu at the restaurant are only in Russian. The room service doesn’t clean your room every day, it happened 2 times to us on a one-week stay. The first night we ordered a dinner in the room, the tray and dirty plates were left in the room until the following evening. The second time the maid told us that it was because she had no time during the day, probably some management issues in the hotel… And I can't say I had a good experience with waiters in restaurants either, they sometimes forget your order and don't know the menu.||||The room and bathroom were small, with functional but very basic facilities. For a 4 stars hotel class I would have expected a more spacious room, with a table and chairs for 2 people and perhaps facilities with more features. The room was at the 5th floor, despite the fact that it was the top floor, the view was of an inner courtyard and very disappointing compared to the hotel photos. The access to the room was long and almost like a labyrinth: we had a lift to the 4th floor then we had to go to the end of a corridor, go through 2 doors, take a dilapidated looking staircase, go through another door, and finally we were in the corridor to our room. The room was noisy, during the night I was disturbed by some slamming door and ringtone noises from the corridor. ||||I forgot to mention that the door to the room did not close properly. We surprised ourselves several times by coming out of the bathroom to find that the room door had been left open. In addition, we had several problems with access cards that no longer worked quite suddenly. Read moreI've stayed at the hotel for 7 nights and the check-in process was horrible, I was waiting for an extra hour after check-in time to get into my room. They don't speak English as they advertise. Nobody is smiling or greeting you... Breakfast was blah, so below average and tasteless for most of the items. My last night at the hotel was ruined by cigarette smoke filling up my room through a ventilation system, addressed that to a receptionist person she even didn't apologize and did not respond. Requested ti speak to a manager and after 30 minutes of waiting for general manager Valeriy to come to speak to me, he offered a bottle of champagne which I declined. I said I would take a refund for the last night because I couldn't sleep in the room. I have an allergy to cigarette smoke, so I couldn't breathe and sleep. He said OK I can do the refund and then said Oh no I cannot do that because I paid with a credit card and the Russian government is not allowing them to do refund to a foreigners... What a BS. Then he said I will find a way to send you that refund for the last night and as soon I left the hotel that day he forgot about it. Liar. Read moreBooked 7 nights at this hotel, everything was fine in the 1st few days. ||Close to bus stations, restaurants, coffee shops etc. Nevski Prospekt is 1 min away. ||2 days before our departure I have asked for a late check-out and they agreed to let us stay another hour at no extra cost. At 12 o'clock they informed my wife that we have to vacate the room immediately. She was about to have lunch with our baby daughter. I showered and packed what was left really fast and came down in the lobby. Paid what we have ordered from the restaurant during our stay and we were on our way to leave. ||One of the boys from the restaurant came in a hurry and asked to pay for the lunch meal. He asked for 1200RUB but the price was 850RUB. At 850 they should have applied a 10% discount for the guests. This made me aware that the sum that I have paid earlier might not be correct as well. Indeed, on one of the invoices, they didn't apply the discount. 200RUB was the damage. Eventually, they have returned the sum. ||Also, for the last 2 days, 2-3 police officers have been present in the hallway 24/24. Probably it was something to do with the economic world forum.
