I have just come home after a short 4 night stay at this small hotel, I am very satisfied with the location, the staff and the room I had.||I had ordered pick-up in the airport through Nevsky Mayak Hotel and it went well and same when I needed to get back to the airport, so I think the 1500 rub each way was well spend.||||The staff was freindly and always avalible (even the night I came back after 3 am in the night) and I did not have any problems comunicating in english with the staff I talked with.||||The location of the hotel is almost at the end of Nevsky Prospect (the main street) with an around 30 min. walk to the Palace square and if you dont want to walk you can with ease take one of the many bus lines that drive along Nevsky Prospect that takes you to the palace square (Blue line 1, 7, 10 and 11).||The closes metro station is Mayakovskaya (green metro line) which you can take 1 stop to Nevsky Prospect metro station which make put you around 13 mins walk from the palace square, at this metro station you can also change to the blue metro line which can with another stop take you to Gor'kovskaya which is close to Peter and Paul Fortress, a War museum and the Cruiser Aurora.||||Alternatively the Saint Petersburg hop-on hop-off seightseeign bus drives on Nevsky Prospect, so this can also be used to get from the hotel to a site you want to see and quick back to the hotel from eg. Saint Isaacs Catheral.||||for me this was a great hotel to stay at and I would choose it again if I one day come back to Saint Petersburg and need a hotel.||||2 things I would like to mention (but this is minor) is:||1. The "bell" to open the door to the hotel was only in Russian, would have been nice with an English text saying Nevsky Mayak Hotel on the right buttom to push.||But it is a minor thing since the staff tells you at arival which buttom to push and after the first time then you know for sure which buttom you need to push.||2. I had room 10 and I did had WiFi in the room but the signal was not very strong (I beleive the router was close to the kitchen area on the floor, since I had full...
Read moreI booked this hotel because it's located on the Main Street,Nevsky Prospect it is close to amenities and different tourist sites, there are also many buses you can hop on for few stops to give your legs a break and the bus ride costs only 40 roubles.||We arrived at the middle of the night, and were greeted warmly. We stayed in twin room 13 it has no windows in the room but it was fine, when we are in the room we would open the door overlooking the corridor and there was window that we can open there. The room was on ground floor which was very handy. ||The hotel had 24 hour reception, in case you need anything etc for example there wasn't a kettle in the room however you could go to reception and they can make you tea for free, there is also water cooler where you can refill your water bottles or get boiling water.||Breakfast every morning was great every like 2 days options would change for example two days was porridge omelette or fried egg the next two days porridge or pancakes with meat/cottage cheese/condensed milk. And the next two days porridge or eggs again. I attached photos of the different variations I had. Apart from the 'main hot dish' there was bread butter jam cheese and yogurts on the tables also.|It was nice to get your fuel of the day and go explore the city, but if you fancy some fancy breakfast there is Newman cafe on the corner, and there are many coffee shops along the street. ||The staff were very friendly and helpful. If I ever return to St Petersburg I'd stay in this...
Read moreWe arrived and the lady on the reception told us they have a problem and that we had to go to the "same" hotel but very close to the original.||We arrived to another that was like 4 blocks from the original, it was not on the street but in a dark corner, it was not even like an hotel and had another name ....||They give us a room in a apartment type floor, theres no reception, just some water and candies on the hall, nothing, just a woman in a room at the end of the hall with her bed.||There's no elevator, it was more like a old apartment with separeted rooms.||||Even worst.||We made the booking with the breakfast, the 'annex' had no breakfast cause it was just a one floor apartment, no kitchen, restaurant, nothing just rooms.||We go to the original hotel Nevsky and the receptionist tell us who are you, you are in the other hotel you must go to that hotel, we insist, the receptionist make calls, I had to show her our booking and then she made another call to FINALLY understand that our booking was in that hotel with the breakfast in that hotel.||SCAM.||||Not sure why exist places like this one, if they cannot fulfill their offer for any reason they should give you a much better room and not try to keep your money giving you the 'annex' poorly located option.||||Bad bad bad, don't be scammed like...
