We visited back in the month of August during our Umrah trip. When we arrived in the city of Madinah, we shortlisted two hotels for ourselves: one was Elaf Al Taqwa and the other was Castle Hotel. Both are located next to each other and are a very short walking distance to the Prophet (S.A)'s mosque. Our priority was the walking distance, so my family agreed on this one, as both hotels have nearly the same services, but Elaf was 100 Riyals more, as it is considered high-end.
The room size and everything else was moderate. Toiletries were provided, and the beds were moderately clean. However, the worst problem we encountered, which has been mentioned by others as well, was the stench arising from the bathroom. One could barely withstand such a strong smell of sewage. The bathroom stank almost all the time. We tried to examine it and found that there was no exhaust fan or window in the bathroom. The smell remained even after cleaning, which is a major downside.
Although when I went to the other room where my family was staying, I didn't notice any smell from the bathroom. So, it's mostly an issue with the rooms on the opposite side, not facing Masjid Nabawi.
Apart from this, one of the best things I remember from the hotel is the lemonade dispenser right near the entrance. Since it was mid-summer and hot almost all the time, the lemonade was refreshingly good.
Lastly, while departing, I remember we had a lot of luggage and the bellboys assisted us. After my family tipped them for the service, they just subsided. We had two pieces of luggage remaining, and when we were struggling with them, we could see those Bengali bellboys standing at the podium doing nothing. They were least bothered about offering a hand because, hey, they had already received the money, so why bother? The lean Bengali boy was just standing there and watching us struggle with the luggage.
I'm sure this was my first and last stay with them, and I wouldn't recommend...

Read moreI had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well-maintained, offering a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere. The hotel staff were courteous, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its location. It’s situated in a newly built and less crowded area, which adds to the sense of calm and ease. The surroundings outside the hotel are beautiful and well-kept. Best of all, it’s only a 5-minute walk to Masjid al-Nabawi. You can actually see the mosque from the hotel, which is truly heartwarming. The hotel is located near the side gate of the Masjid that leads directly to the area where visitors can send Salam to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) — an incredible convenience for pilgrims.
However, there are a few areas for improvement. The hotel does not offer parking, which could be a concern for guests with vehicles. Additionally, there’s no tea or coffee provided in the rooms, and the absence of blackout curtains may affect sleep for those sensitive to light. Also the exhaust system in toilets does not work
Despite these minor drawbacks, the location and comfort make this hotel an excellent choice, especially for those visiting for religious purposes. I would definitely stay here again and recommend...
