Golden Tulip Al Shakreen – A Disgraceful Experience That Should Never Happen in Hospitality I rarely leave negative reviews, but what I experienced at Golden Tulip Al Shakreen cannot be ignored. I am writing this so other travelers don’t face the same humiliation and stress my family and I did. We had a confirmed booking with a check-in time of 4:00 PM. Despite arriving on time, we were kept waiting until well after 4:4 0 PM with zero communication or apology from the hotel staff. But the delay was not the worst part. The man at the front desk, who is supposed to represent the hotel and welcome guests, was behaving in the most unprofessional, rude, and aggressive way I have ever seen. He was yelling at guests, showing clear frustration, raising his voice at families, elders, and individuals who simply asked questions about their booking. It felt like we were not guests, but inmates, and he was in charge of keeping us in line. He was acting like a jailer, not a hotel receptionist. His behavior was completely out of line for someone working in customer service. There was no basic courtesy, no problem-solving, no empathy. Just anger and arrogance. I attempted to speak to him calmly and tried to make him understand how wrong it is to treat paying guests this way—but instead of listening, he continued arguing and escalating the situation. Eventually, I had to put him in his place verbally—not with disrespect, but with firm words to remind him that this is not how any human being, especially a guest, should be treated. Even more disappointing, no manager was available at the time to step in or take control of the situation. It was complete chaos at the reception, and the entire check-in process was being handled without any professionalism or accountability. Because of how we were treated, and how the environment made us feel unsafe, we decided to cancel our booking and leave. No one offered a solution, no one apologized, and we were left shocked and disrespected. Let me say this clearly: • This is not what hospitality is. • This is not how you treat guests who may have traveled long distances, especially in a place like Madinah, where respect, patience, and kindness should be a priority. • A hotel is not just about rooms and buildings—it’s about people and how they are treated. The staff, especially the front desk, must be trained in basic manners, emotional control, and guest service. If someone cannot handle pressure or speak respectfully to guests, they should not be placed in such a critical position. This isn’t just about a delay—it’s about how you make people feel. I hope the management of Golden Tulip Al Shakreen takes this feedback seriously. You may have a big name, but one unprofessional staff member can destroy the reputation of the entire brand. Until they improve their staff and service, I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are many better places nearby where you will be treated with dignity.

Three to below one star .. people are waiting for hours. The reception team was unprofessional rude ,and arrogant. Most of pilgrims travel Makkah to madeena have to wait 4 hours for check-in .All are reaching out with all tired. This all happened in front of Masjid Al nawabi. You have to wait for rooms for hours to accommodate. after a long wait they received the room, the room which never value more than 30dhs. I will mention it as cattle farm where suppose to be. We will start explaining the room features. 1)-Room can't be locked from inside. 2)especially bathroom handle will be provided separate. With complimentary when you want you can fix & use it. 3) flooring carpet with disgusting dirt & foul smells that makes you vomiting 4)-bedsheet never changed. 5)- wall were completely breakage with holes 6)- I stay awake because i have to care my family The whole night for the unsafety of hotel 7) The corridor smell welcomes us to the room 8) they are using AC from stone age 9) The room smells and is dirty everywhere 10) The bed is dancing, I should be careful in sleep 11) chair are the same ,they can't be used for sitting 12) the are placed a internet in reception.with password but there is no connection over there They keep telling server is down. Better call the hotel a cattle farm

Worst Hotel of my entire life experience. I am in room (xxx) today is 23-09-2025!! My advance booking was through booking.com which is for 4 beds. I reached at 2AM from Jubail they have given me a room that can barely fit 4 chickens and us humans here with family and an infant. The booking was for 4 beds this room has 3 beds. Room size is just not more than (12*12) feet. I have to sit on toilet seat tilted bcz it’s congested the vanity is on my face and hitting my knees. No soaps no shampoo. Just recite Kalma in heart and wash hands. Bedding and room carpet are not clean even. This is pathetic and inhuman behavior I am facing in this hotel. Yes pictures are fascinating on booking.com but reality is opposite. Most pathetic experience of my life. Adding some pictures for reference also. Room size are very very congested. Mattresses are of over age when you sleep it will tilt to a side. Only 1 side table in room. With one charging port. Room Carpet is unclean and old. Gentlemen please don’t ever think to be at this hotel. It’s worst beyond your imagination. Today morning Inshallah I will change room to end this suffering for me and my family!!!

For the sake of Allah I will try my best in being as fair as I can with this review. To any young person looking to stay in this hotel I advise you not to as the aesthetic is more for the elderly. It is a great distance from the prophets masjid being just a road cross away, the museum is also a road cross away with many shops such as for fragrance, snacks clothes and gifts being close by.

Unfortunately my experience at this property was short lived and the interactions I had with staff was worse than could be explained. I genuinely have no words for the treatment at this property considering these people have the biggest reminder of good character in front of them being the prophets masjid.

Upon arrival, staff appeared to be friendly and kind offering me an upgrade which didn’t look like an upgrade at all but rather 4 single beds squashed in a room on a smoking floor which smelt.

When I had finally seen my room, I was not happy or comfortable staying there as it did not resemble the photo shown on booking.com. My little sister was worried as she could hear scratching almost as if there was a mouse in the room, there was hair on our beds and more. I asked to cancel my booking, being pleased that they would still take a nights worth of money as it was a last minute cancellation and I was told I had to stay the night then cancel the next day. We managed it and done as we were told.

Next day, the cancel button was no longer on bookings and I had to request to change my dates from six nights to one. This request was not accepted or declined on bookings. I went through the process of returning my key card, giving booking information and card details for my refund (this took 2 hours+ as there was constant waiting in between)

I was finally told I could leave as my refund had been processed, naturally being from the uk and a certain way of living, I asked for proof of my refund and was asked to come back after dhur because the manager was in a meeting… I did this and was then asked to come back after maghrib… then told to come back the next day because the manager was on holiday??? Allah knows best who was lying in this situation and I leave this case with Allah.

I came back the next day and was completely ignored by staff. new customers would come to the desk and they would be attended to, this continued to happen until I asked to speak with the manager, I was directed to an individual who was in fact the supervisor. The receptionist I was waiting to speak to now magically had my time and was quick to explain to the supervisor in Arabic what the issue was. I took the opportunity to tell her to fear Allah as she knew I was waiting for her and she completely ignored me. (She felt the best thing to do in this situation was to constantly smile and laugh in my face) I told her we will meet again on the day of judgment and that Allah is watching her, you would expect such a comment to trigger a better character but she continued to giggle and smile about the situation.

The supervisor apologised for the circumstances and reassured me he would give me my refund in cash… how is this possible if the refund had already been processed to my card. He proceeded to ask for my booking number and proof that I had requested to change my dates. He suggested I leave to pray and I said I would wait. They then declined my request from booking.com to change my reservation dates making it look as if I had stayed in the property for two nights instead of 1 so that they would not have to give me back my full refund, making it seem as if it is bookings responsibility to accept requests made to the hotel rather than them. Allah is my witness to all I have said, alhamdulillah I got 1,640 back after paying over 2,400. The rest will be recompensed by Allah in this life or the next. All praise is to Allah who is just and does not...

Be Warned and Do Not Stay In This Hotel!!!||1 - Men come into the room without notice, no knocking, I was so sick that I couldn't move and my husband was out and they kept coming in, I asked what they wanted and all they said was just 'checking' this happened all hours of the day, they weren't coming into the room for anything specific so I was on guard the whole time I was in the hotel. 2 days before our checkout someone entered the room again when my husband wasn't there to ask if we were checking out. |2 - Not once in the whole stay did they clean the room, it was absolutely filthy and disgusting, never been hoovered, food crumbs all over the floor, sheets never changed, towels never changed, nothing replaced including towels, tea, water, toilet paper. No wander everyone in our group got sick as soon as we stayed one night, I doubt they changed the sheets in our rooms when we arrived, so we were sleeping in the same sheets as the last guests. There was a constant smell of cigarette smoke in my room, which was suffocating.|3 - Breakfast, old reused food, nothing fresh to eat no fruit, pastries were stale, we ended up just having tea and getting our own food from outside. The one day there was a chef making omelette he was complaining about it.|4 - If you are white you will get treated right. I witnessed a member of our group being spoken to and looked after by the manager who also insisted her write a good review on Trip Advisor, anyone else you are treated like dirt on the floor. I asked to speak to the hotel manager several times, but was told there 'wasn't one'.|5 - Double bedroom so tiny you can barely walk let alone open your suitcase or pray etc. when we tried to move room the Arabs at the reception told us speak to the agent, who kept telling us the next day they would look, and 3 days past and they still hadn't done anything, they said there were no rooms despite the fact they moved several of our group to new rooms and people were checking out every day. They kept giving us the same line that our room was a 'VIP Room' like we're fools! I got so frustrated and in the end had to tell them to stop lying to me and if they don't do anything we are checking out. He then showed us several rooms which were exactly the same as our current one, until finally he showed us a room with a few inches more space and then said we had to pay extra for an extra bed and the view, NOTE: people in families of 4 in our group were getting 2 rooms with 6 & 8 beds with no extra charge so asking extra was totally out of order, in the whole process they were so rude and arrogant. The Arabs at reception are useless, manager nowhere to be seen (unless your white and privileged) and the agents don't give a damn unless you really kick up a fuss for days on end and tell them they are lying to there face!|6 - The workers don't speak a word of English so you cant communicate with them, they just sit around in the corridors, someone asked for new sheets in the room and all they did was turn them over.||This hotel shouldn't even be a 1 star, it is a hazard to your health as soon as you walk in, please be warned and do not stay here at any cost. Anyone writing a five star review for this joke off a filthy place must of been paid or bribed...
