Quiet, peaceful, arty hotel. We were here just before the “covidius-18-period” started, actually. We celebrated newyears’ eve overhere.
It was very relaxed, not many guests in the hotel, very peaceful.
The hotel has a arty kind of vibe going on. It has several areas with arty-farty stuff on the walls and in its corridors and it provides nice, quite big spaces to chill out and have dinner or lunch, inside as well as outside. For the musically gifted guests there is a piano too.
We had a room on the 3floor with a great view on the sea.
At night, we could here & see the fireworks near the coastal line resonate en pulsate.
The swimmingpool was clean. The food was good. The weather was agréable.
The personell was very funny & friendly too. Their service was from a level you can expect.
An advice would be to give the outside part of the building an extra painting job…🎶
It’s a practical location over there: it was just a 10 minute walk to the closest (food)market & historical center with all kinds of shops & old malls.
Beware of people chasing you and asking for deals on the market, some of them wait for you when you walk from the Sokhamon to the nearest ATM situated in the center of the city of Dakar.
One of those guys looks a lot like “Snoop Doggy Dog” (see the second last picture). The say that they need money for their niece’s...
Read moreI staid 3 nights at the Sokhamon for a workshop. The meeting room was OK, quite basic but at least well air-conditioned and full of light. The staff is punctual in arranging for the coffee and cakes during breaks. Breakfast is a bit monotonous and quite limited while lunch is unexpectedly good. Honest food, well prepared and in adult portions. Certainly appreciated. The rooms, I had an 'apartment', a misleading term for a large room, sparsely furnished without a kitchen corner or sink, which looked empty and in gad need of refurbishment. There was a phone which didn't work but luckily sufficient power outlets to charge phones, pc and whatever other gadgets one has these days. The price is fine and seems appropriate for what one gets. Certainly this place could have potential, given its location right in front of the ocean. But the lay-out, quality of construction and identify forms an obstacle to its further development. A huge bar without any entertainment doesn't attract clients. The absence of beer on the evening of my arrival didn't either. In short, good for a local workshop. But that's it. Families, stay away unless on a budget. Business...
Read moreClean hotel. Very polite, friendly and helpful staff. We stayed there with my husband and kids. ||I cannot say the same about the mature lady owner who approached me in a accusatory manner on my last day of the stay. I was entering the hotel alone and unfortunately the door slammed behind me when I let it go. A mature woman who I assumed to be the owner asked me in French “Mademoiselle pourquoi avez vous fait claquer la porte, ici ce sont des meubles artisanales, regardez autour de vous”||Of course I asked her to changed her tone. ||She assumed I was a young girl and was being rude. ||What a déception after spending 4 nights and booking 2 rooms.||I will not come back to this hotel neither would o recommend it because I cannot help imagining how this woman talk to her employees if she dare talking to her...
