Hotel Elizabeth Trenčín — Hotel in Trenčín

The location couldn't be better: Trencin is fantastic and the hotel sits on the perfect spot below the magnificent castle and along the most fun street in a wonderful, small city.||||There were a few issues that are worth noting though. This hotel is HOT in the summer: there is decent (but not great) air conditioning in the rooms, but none in the hallways or elsewhere. Waiting for an elevator on an upper floor was unbelievably hot.||||The most surprising thing to me was that my card swipe access to the hallway for the fourth floor elevator mysteriously stopped working well before check-out on my last day. I ended up carrying my large bag down four flights of stairs in the heat and when I mentioned it to the staff member at the desk, she told me I was mistaken, that the elevators required no swipe access. (This part was true, but she was wrong about being able to get to the elevator on the floor with a room card. There was a door that required swipe-access.) I wasn't asking for much--I just wanted to tell them that they had a flaw in their system--but her lack of apology and the fact that she didn't believe me really annoyed me.||||While we're at it, the parking is very hard to find. I ended up in a garage across the street, but I really didn't know the relationship between the parking garage and the hotel until I checked in. (There is one and it's quite good--it was actually cheaper than what the hotel was offering in its own lot.) It just often seemed like the reception staffed was bothered by these "guest incidentals," which of course are crucial to the actual guest.||||I'd stay at this hotel again, but they could use a little...

My one star is driven mainly by the last experience I had in the hotel. When I was checking out I asked to if I could leave my luggage for two hours so I could explore the city before catching my train and I was told that I could but on my own risks. Basically they don’t have a storage room and instead suggest you to leave your luggage completely unattended behind the lifts where it happens to be the hotel “business centre” for guest use. This is the best hotel in the city and a 4-star one! I expect way more! I literally have never seen this in my life and I do travel a lot!! The hotel staff is really nice, checkin was smooth. My reservation included a 2-hour spa use which you have to book in advance. I booked on arrival for 5pm. When getting to the pool area there were 2 families both with children which made the experience less relaxing, but they left half an hour later. The floor around both the swimming pool and saunas area is EXTREMELY SLIPPERY and super dangerous. I don’t understand why this type of title has been chosen and installed. The sauna area by the pool have 4 different sauna types and it is very good! I loved it there. The single room is very spacious and nicely decorated. Breakfast is like a feast I really enjoyed too.
