I come there with my girlfriend with expectation we will have good time . they make many small mistakes which don't make visit expected comfortable. they give me room and when I come to room she wasn't ready. when I go back to reception they give to me another room & say excuse me. (ok that happens) when I get another room I start to change clothes & I hear door lock. someone want come to the room. I go open my self & there was room service. (she didn't knock in the door) what if I'm necked,...? she say I bring you chocolate. I see 2 representative chocolate in here hand (one was already open). room safe didn't had key. I have go to reception ask for it. when I want leave & locked my room I see there is already key in front side of door. (it was general key of all flor. probably forget room service) I take that key to reception & he sak me if I take away key from some another room. (what a question) after explanation he say sory . i wonder how is security if I can get general key like that. I ask reception where I can make lunch. he offered me eating lunch in the bar. not in restaurant. I understand that restaurant doesn't work for lunch. when I ask waiter what we can eating he mention pumpkin soup & spaghetti with shrimps. when we order food waiter come back & say excuse me we don't have pumpkin soup. we have cucumber soup. ok let it be cucumber soup (waiter can't remember what kind of soup they have on menu. they had only 2 different soup). spaghetti was something special. in spaghetti I see only 3 small peaces of shrimps. when I come to spa center there is very small place to change. we have to crowding with guests. it's just 2 room for change clothes. wearing closed is not good there is no separate place for shoes or something to hanging jacket,...(I coming in winter time). if I want lock closed I have to call staffs wish was not near. pool was ok just 2 jacuzzi near pool didn't work most of time when I was there. in the spa (sauna) is not good because visitors leave personal things like towels, swimwear on the recliners in the resting room when they go to take sauna. that's why other visitors could not using. there should be someone from staffs to make order. all 4h I didn't see nobody of staffs there to complain. spa have 3 shower & one didn't work. kneipp track didnt work to. like hotel guest I have right using spa center all day after check out. mean I can take towel & bathrobe from room. after using I have to take all wet back to reception. they don't have some bag for that. why I can't leave all in spa center because is part of hotel like in other hotels I didn't make a good impression on...
Read moreIf you're considering booking this hotel, think twice! The food and service are poor quality and like many of us you will leave hugely disappointed. The only good thing about this hotel is that some of the rooms are nicely renovated, but that's about it. It is most definitely not worth the price you pay and the experience of sleeping in a beautiful old hotel is worthless. Food: it feels like eating in a cheap canteen rather than in a 4 star hotel. For dinner we got a fried salmon steak probably cooked in stale oil and overcooked vegetables. We left the entire dinner. The waitress even frowned upon us when we wanted to get the wine card. For breakfast you get fried eggs with a sausage and mustard, the cheapest ones you can get in any supermarket. Yuck. The selection of fruit and bread is poor. The cheese and salami plates are wrapped in a plastic foil. Service: Firstly, they probably never heard about such a thing called guest expectation management: when we made the reservation 2 weeks in advance, they told us the price was 60 euros per room, per night, for both. We checked again and they reconfirmed. We asked for a reservation confirmation, but they said that it's okay, we can trust them. When we arrived at the hotel, we were surprised to learn that the price was double, 120 euros per room, per night, for 2 people. We didn't complain as we thought it was our fault not to insist on the written confirmation. But we would have never booked the hotel for that amount. Secondly, they don't go the extra mile for you and try to make your wishes possible, but they rather put limitations on them. We were only allowed to go to the saunas for 30min max, although there are plenty of saunas and barely any visitors to the wellness area due to sunny weather outside. What is more, the spa lady actually entered in the sauna to throw us out, because we stayed longer than we should! Outrageous. In the end we considered giving a feedback to the receptionist if they asked if we liked our stay, but they never did, of course. We will for sure never be back. What a shame to waste such a gorgeous historical building for a rather canteen...
Read moreThe history of this building is connected with the history of the town of Rogaška Slatina as a spa center. The healthy properties of the local water were already well known to the Celts and also to the Romans. But the spa center really started to prosper in the 19th century when the town became one of the major spa centres in the Austrian-Hungarian empire. The main spa building was first built in 1813 but was demolished in 1847, when the second and bigger spa was built in honour to the Austrian emperor Ferdinand and his wife Anna. This second building was destroyed in a fire in 1910. Today's building is the third spa building, which was opened to the public in 1912. Also a large ceremonial hall and a theatre were built as a part of this building. The hotel was later visited by many notable personalities in the past, especially by the members of the Habsburg's royal family. The world's famous composer Franz Listz was also a guest here. Many years have passed since then and the world has changed a lot. The hotel was also renovated many times but when you stand in front of it or when you walk right in, it is like going back in time a little. The large interiors, big and open spaces, high ceilings, large doors and everything else can make your imagination travel back to the glorious years just before the start of the WW1. It is very, very nice. I love it. The building is a historical gem and also a lovely place to spend your holidays. Or you can just take a walk through it's garden and...
