Terrible experience, definitely not a 4-star hotel.
I booked two rooms for my family. When we got there, they said we could get two rooms but on different floors and not together since they are full booked. By just looking around, you could see the hotel was empty, and later I could confirm this with the restaurant more than half empty during dinner and breakfast.
I asked at the reception to get us two rooms together, but they said they could only get us those in the older part of the hotel. Rooms were accessible only by stairs and/or through the service entrance, and we had to use the service elevator to get our luggage in the rooms. For that, you need to go out of the hotel and use a service entrance. I didn't even know such rooms existed. You can see the "beautiful" view from our rooms in the photo.
In my long history of travelling around the world and visiting more than 150 different hotels I've never experienced that when a hotel makes a mistake, they downgrade and not upgrade you. All the rooms on the seaside were empty, but they prefer to downgrade guests instead of using those rooms.
You can see that incompetent management idea is to have a luxury hotel, with high prices, but the staff doesn't know how to keep up with this demands, and everything looks very confusing and unpleasant for the guests. Those who would like to spend more are discouraged by the unattractive staff's attitude.
Rooms were horrendous. The carpet floor is ugly, and the shower was the smallest one I've ever seen. When you step out of the shower, you have to be careful not to step in the toilet. The was a water leak on the celling.
The food is repetitive and not that good. For 4-star hotel you would expect some fresh juice in the morning and some proper coffee. From Nescaffe machine it tasted like water with a taste of the coffee. Since bar in the lobby only opens at 18h, you have to go out of the hotel to get a good coffee. Even water from the machine has a taste of fruits. Hairs in the scramble eggs can easily be avoided.
The pool was nicely cleaned every day, but many lights were fast blinking and were a disturbance in a SPA area. They turn it off (not replaced) when...
Read moreSmall details can either make a guest happy or, in the case of Hotel Riviera, disappointed.||On the positive side, the reception and the restaurant staff were very kind, and the room was nice. Beds are very comfortable with firm mattresses.||However, there were several issues that are not typical of a 4-star hotel. ||For example, we ordered room service breakfast by placing the order card on the door the night before, as instructed. But when breakfast did not arrive at the scheduled time, we called reception, only to find that the staff hadn’t even picked up our order card. The breakfast arrived 1 hour late, and there were no plates provided to eat from.||The swimming pool was crowded, and one would expect a lifeguard to be attentive, but instead, we saw one watching their cell phone all the time. We also noticed a couple smoking e-cigarettes next to the indoor pool, and no staff intervened.||The cleaning service was poor (probably understaffed). We got a feeling they wait for you to come home to your room and hope you won’t want any service when they knock on your door. Towels were exchanged, but no other cleaning was done since we were "at home'. A sheet on a bed was torn, too amd it wasn't a good impression.||Tables in the restaurant are numbered with paper cards, and ours was dirty with food and never replaced during our entire stay. ||Drinks at dinner were very overpriced — it was actually cheaper to drink wine from the room's minibar than to purchase it at the restaurant.||A kettle for hot water should be a basic amenity in a 4-star hotel, but you won’t find one here. Additionally, there’s a note warning guests not to use the minibar for their own food or drinks, and if you wish to do so, you must "rent" the fridge. Same for the bathrobe -.if you want to use it, you need to rent it for €6.||As for parking, it's virtually nonexistent. There are only a few spaces in the hotel parking lot/garage. Prices of other parking start at €1.20 per hour (payable 24/7) for private parking behind hotel, while street parking is even more expensive.||While we had an enjoyable holiday, we would not return. The value for money simply doesn't justify...
Read moreThis hotel doesn't even deserve the term hotel. The first night the kitchen staff had a party until 1 a.m. downstairs. They were loud, listening to music, arguing and smoking weed. I had to call the receptionist twice to calm them down, since the first time the quiet lasted only for 5 minutes. The next night the story was the same, so I had to go to the reception again and tell them to calm them down. The receptionist didn't say sorry during the entire stay and I felt like I was annoying him. It was the worst hotel experience ever, since the room was really hot (I couldn't regulate the heating in the room) and I couldn't even open the window without my whole room smelling like weed and on top of that I couldn't sleep both nights because of the parties. Not to mension that the rooms are outdated, I had a view on a wall and the reception staff was not nice even in the beginning (they felt like they are being annoyed even when asking a simple question). Its worth spending a little more money for any other hotel in the Lifeclass chain, because this doesn't even feel like a hotel, more...
