My friends and I had a dinner at the tapas place. Let me first say that the ambience was really nice. It was all good until we got the first course where I got tuna carpaccio which was still frozen and with no taste. I politely asked the waiter if that's normal as I haven't ate such a frozen carpaccio before. His reaction was: "yes of course it's normal" with a bit of rudeness in his voice. I said ok, I'll eat it but please tell that to the chef. He just put a "whatever" face on and left. In between we were waiting with empty glasses. It looked like our waiter didn't want to serve us anymore (and we were right). He looked personally offended because I wasn't happy with the food.
Then we got the third course (the second one was good btw) served by a third waitress. Again, I was looking at my friends plate. They were happy with their fish but mine was like a chewing gum. I complained to the waitress and she reacted professionally, apologized and offered me another main course or a dessert for all three of us on the house. We decided for the dessert and said thank you! We asked for the bill and saw the three desserts on it!!! At this point we were really pissed off! The waitress that offered us desserts never came back to the table. She was ignoring us and even her colleague because she didn't want to confront with the situation she has caused. The first waiter said we need to pay. He was acting totally unprofessional saying that their food is ALWAYS excellent and that we are looking just for mistakes... It has never happen to me before that a waiter would act like that. He insulted us. After 5 minutes of the discussion and waiting for the waitress (the one who said that desserts are on the house) to come the waiter left. He came back saying we don't need to pay anything for the dinner and that we can go. We were speechless... in the end my friend went to the kitchen chef saying we want to pay for what we ordered and that they should listen more to the guests and accept negative critiques from which they can learn to be even better. The answer my friend got was: "Every plate that we prepare is great and we don't do mistakes." At this point we just thanked for the...
Read moreMy experience at the Istrian Bistro & Tapas Bar was nothing short of extraordinary! The Istrian tapas we savored were an explosion of flavors, leaving us completely enamored with the rich culinary heritage of the region. The noodles with prawns and the salad were equally delightful, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to using the freshest ingredients.
Though we missed out on the meat options due to their immense popularity, we understood that our late dinner reservation at 9 pm coincided with a bustling day for the restaurant. Nevertheless, this minor setback didn't dampen our spirits one bit, as the rest of the dining experience more than made up for it.
The restaurant's modern setting exuded a charming vibe, and the staff's friendly demeanour made us feel right at home. Additionally, the prices were quite reasonable, especially considering the ample portions we received.
All in all, the Istrian Bistro & Tapas Bar impressed us with its delectable dishes, warm ambiance, friendly service, and great value. This place is a must-visit gem, and we can't wait to return for another unforgettable...
Read morePrices were good, quality as well :) Unexpectedly higher amzing cuisine (a first in portoroz where most other restaurants are very bad tourist traps)!! Tapas (~5.5€) were really good, everything looked and tasted amazing, especially the mini istrian burgers !! The vegetable soup was also great! Waiters and also chefs go the extra mile !! I have never seen a bigger plate of salad in my life (special salads for around 8€) - on the next table ^^ Good selection of food for affordable and acceptable prices !! If the quality is great, you habe no problem to pay a little bit more!! Can get really busy at night, it was hard to get a table, we had to wait to be placed, a concierge would habe been great, waiters were busy because of the many guests !! But let me tell you, it was worth...
