We had a superb stay recently in Rosella - one of the very unique Gypsy Wagons at this lovely guesthouse in Clarens. We were very impressed by the info we received from Sandy and Jana prior to our arrival, as well as the COVID-19 safety regulations being observed on site.||||The Wagon itself is beautifully kitted out, with everything you may need. In fact, it is rather surprising how comfortable they are bearing in mind the limited space, but it is clear that this project has been a labour of love for Sandy, and it really shows. We probably had the best night's sleep in ages, and the soft rain falling on the roof made the whole experience even more special.||||Certainly something very different and unique in Clarens, and well worth a visit. I must stress that I am not into camping at all (prefer my creature comforts!), and even glamping pushes my boundaries, but I was suitably impressed by the whole Gypsy experience and how staying in a wagon can be so incredibly comfortable!||||The garden setting is very tranquil with lots of outdoor space to enjoy and socialise in. The guest house is only leisurely stroll from the town square and restaurants, yet far enough away to really relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle.||||The Gypsy Wagons are highly recommended for something totally different and out of the ordinary during your next...

Our stay at Gypsy Life in Clarens was nothing short of enchanting! We spent two nights in Esmeralda, one of their beautifully crafted gypsy wagons, and it was an experience we will cherish forever.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality. The gypsy wagon itself was a work of art, meticulously designed with hand-carved and hand-painted details that transported us to a bygone era. The cozy interior, complete with all the modern comforts, made our stay both comfortable and magical.

The peaceful surroundings and the quaint village of Clarens added to the charm of our stay. We enjoyed exploring the local shops and restaurants, all within a short walk from Gypsy Life. The tranquility and natural beauty of the area provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and romantic getaway.

One of the highlights of our stay was the attention to detail and the little touches that made us feel special.

We highly recommend Gypsy Life to anyone looking for a unique and memorable escape. Whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or simply a break from the stresses of everyday life, they offer an amazing glamping experience.

Thank you to the wonderful hosts, Shaun and Sandy for making our stay so unforgettable. We can’t wait to return...

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it!

When we arrived, we got a warm welcome from the owners Shane and Sandy. We were quickly checked in and shown to our beautiful room, the Jade room. Our room had a very comfortable double bed, a bathroom with bath and shower, a kitchen and a sunny terrace.

There was a beautiful garden in which we could relax, enjoy nature and even could take an amazing and refreshing shower in an outside shower.

Especially for our honeymoon the room was decorated with rose petals and a delicious bottle of champagne awaited us. Such a lovely touch!

The location is perfectly situated in Clarens and everything is in walking distance. Also free and safe parking for the car was available during our stay at Gypsy Life.

We didn’t know anything in Clarens and Sandy and Shane gave us the perfect recommendations for food as well as for activities. It seemed like nothing was too much asked for Sandy and Shane, they were very hospitable and we really compliment them for creating such a beautiful experience.

We stayed in the Thisbe wagon (no wheels). Shane, our host, made contact before we came down to advise on our route and answer questions. He was waiting for us when we entered their driveway with a wealth of information about the area, recommended restaurants, activities, etc. The wagon is well-appointed including a small fridge, microwave, sink, cutlery & crockery, toilet, bath and towels all in the unit. Queen bed above a single bed below. Wood-burning stove heats the place incredibly quickly and incredibly hot—but follow Shane’s instructions to avoid smoke. A small electric fan heater (provided) is also very effective. Outside the wagons, a table and three chairs, plus two extra chairs and two beanbags, plus a communal braai area and kitchen for larger parties. The location is great as it avoids car traffic and yet is comfortably walkable to the main square of the village. Highly recommended (but keep this hidden gem to yourself, or it’ll soon be overrun).

So we decided to try something different as we visit Clarens at least 6 times a year, what a disappointment, our neighbors were loud and played music all night, Monday morning the school opposite were so load you lost all sense of direction, then the surprise came, went to pack my car as we were leaving early traveling back roads to Gauteng, so just that you understand, we only travel dirt roads every weekend, so the car is full of dust and mud which is fine, happy with this, so their gardener decided to wash my car with a bucket of water and a cloth, WITHOUT ASKING!!!!!😡😡😡, as you can understand, I was livid and started shouting who the hell did it, the owners response was I am an ungrateful human being as not all people can afford to have their cars cleaned, I won’t mentioned the swearing at me but have it all on video, the owner then reported us to Lekkerslaap, we set the facts straight with Lekkerslaap , see photos below after the “free” carwash
