Read moreI booked a table for my family of 4 on the 23 July, as it was my wife’s birthday and this was our first visit to Clarens. Upon arriving, and due to it being my wife’s birthday birthday my kids took along the number balloons. We where stopped and told that the restaurant is “posh” and balloons are not allowed. We had to take them to the back into the office and leave them there. We placed our orders and waited and noticed that those who arrived after us where getting bread rolls. So we enquired and only then did they bring those to the table. Our meals arrived and what a total disappointment. The rib eye steak has more sinew and every mouthful we had to spit out the sinew. Lamb shank was definetly not slowed and did not fall off the bone. The red wine reduction was very tasty and flavourful. As for the seafood pasta. Wow! The most disappointing meal ever. This should have had half shelled mussels. shrimp, prawn meat. Kingklip and smoked salmon. What we got was a packet seafood mix. Francois was called to our table, he did offer us another steak which we declined due to the evening being spoilt already. When we asked about the mussels in the pasta he gave us an excuse that it had separated from the shell, which to me was a pathetic excuse.
Concern yourself about the quality of food you bring out rather than how posh the establishment looks in the front of house.
You and your team spoilt what was an amazing day. Very...
Read moreWe heard this was one of the better restaurants in Clarence but left disappointed. The (immigrant?) waiter’s first sentence to us was for us to move our car as we are blocking the walkway. What a welcome! We didnt park there to visit another place but to dine in at Treat and also there is no red line in the street or a no parking sign. We needed shade as there were chocolates in the car. That was the start of the wrongs. Secondly the waiter Donald Mosiea obviousely wasnt trained well in customer service. The coffee came without the hot milk i clearly asked for, when he brought the bill he had to go back as there were mistakes on it.
Regarding the food - the Pancake stack was dry not nearly enough syrup - it should not be drenched but one should be able to swallow it without chewing for a minute per bite. We did get extra syrup after we had to ask for it.
The coffee was very tasty and the ambience itself is lovely.
The manager/foreman? Whatever that means didnt seem very approachable and i could see he wanted to get argumentative as well luckily we left immediately.
A family of 7 people entered the premises but no one welcomed or seated them they stood there a while but eventually left. Shocking!
We wont return...
