Lola's Luxury Accommodation — Hotel in Dihlabeng Local Municipality

We visited Clarens as a group of 7 over the August long weekend and booked in at Lola’s Luxury.||||There a 3 separate accommodation options at Lola’s. We took over Lola’s View and Lola’s Suite underneath. Both are beautifully appointed, immaculately maintained and tastefully decorated.|||| In Lola’s View, there are 3 en-suite bedrooms (2 with showers and one with a shower and a bath), 2 with king size beds (fitted with electric blankets) and one with two single beds. All beds are fitted with electric blankets. There is a large screen TV, a dishwasher, a large fridge and freezer, a microwave and a very large oven. The kitchen is well-stocked with crockery, cutlery and a variety of pots, pans and serving dishes. On the patio outside, there is a built in braai. The living areas are open plan with a kitchen, dining area and lounge. All bedrooms have wall-mounted heaters. There was also a wood fire which warms up the whole building and is essential on a winter’s night.||||Lola’s Suite also has a king size bed, an electric blanket, a shower, a wall mounted heater, a large TV screen, a small kitchenette and a mini Weber. It is great for honeymooners.||||The house was spotlessly clean and maintained that way by a lady who came in daily to clean and tidy.||||Clarens itself is an absolutely quaint gem of a village. There are numerous shops selling all sorts of stuff, a lot of it quite arty, classy and different. Generally, the goods for sale are of good quality and they have lots of dining out alternatives. There is craft beer for tasting, a whiskey lounge and craft gin for tasting. The only downside is that only the main road in and the main square are tarred. The other roads are rather poorly maintained dirt roads, so low slung sedans...

We stayed at Lola's Cottage, one of 3 options at this establishment, which has 3 bedrooms. It was disappointing. The cottage bore no relationship to the photos we saw on the booking site. The cottage is grossly overpriced for what you get. The furnishings were poor, some lights did not work, our bedsheets were torn, there were dog droppings in rhe garden and, worse of all, the amazing views that we saw on the photo gallery was non existent.
