This is a great value for money option in Knysna. The main building is spacious and opens up onto a pool deck with a view of the Knysna Lagoon. From there pathways winding through the beautiful flora leads you to your cabin-style room. Our room had a great view of the lagoon from both the bedroom as well as the bathroom. What I especially liked about the bathroom was the double shower and the spa bath - great for couples. The staff are also very friendly and helpful - we mentioned that we maybe wanted to "braai" (barbecue) that evening so while we were out they arranged a webber on our deck. We also had breakfast in the main building which was very tasty - they separate their breakfast dishes into 4 sections, with 2 options under each one, and then you can choose 1 option from each section. You can see everyone that works there really has a passion for what they do and I especially want to say thank you to Johan, Mandy and Ryan. If you are looking for a place to stay in Knysna this should definitely be on...
Read moreIt’s a nice place to stay. It is a way from where there are restaurants etc. there is an in house restaurant. The food needed to be ordered by 4pm, you also had to book in for dinner so the food was ready. Food was ok. The facilities were good. We stayed during a period of renovations which we found out about when we checked in. We were sent a complimentary bottle of wine on a day that was particularly noisy. I think there were more tradesmen renovating than guests. We did notice previous guests had concerns and made recommendations and they had been addressed. The phone numbers in the room didn’t connect when we called. A small jug of water was easily finished, could do with bigger jugs. We only met one staff member, Fish, who was so obliging and honestly did his best. He seemed to have a great deal to do and guests seemed to make...

My fiancée (now wife) booked the honeymoon package at Elephant Hide in Knysna. First of all, let's put aside the fact that Knysna is gorgeous and completely worth your while. There's plenty to see and do. It's one of the rare places that I actually want to visit again.
Let me just say that Elephant Hide is unbelievably fantastic. The people (Ryan, Mandy, Fish, and Eliot) are all very nice, helpful, and accommodating. The room was extremely comfortable. The view of the lagoon from our bedroom, bathroom, AND shower room was outstanding. The breakfast was delicious. And the location is very convenient while also being very quiet.
Oh, and I'm told that the package price was pretty good, too.
I would definitely recommend Elephant Hide to anyone. I'd also stay there...
