A single star is being overly generous. After booking online using booking.com we got to the place and realised it wasn't what we paid for! The rooms were not as described, the place was extremely dirty, the windows, pool and indoor fountain was extremely dirty with green water. The place even had spider webs all over. What made the situation even worse is the attitude of the owner or manager Eleanor upon us complaining she was totally unwilling to help. She wasn't on the property so we had to call she even had the audacity to cut the phone on us! The girl on the property, Thandi was even worse! In all my travels l have never come across anyone more rude and stubborn! When we hot there she was cozy with the construction crew next door, she let us get lost in when she finally came she was unwilling to speak in English for the benefit of everyone despite us repeatedly asking her to do so. When we were busy on the phone with this Eleanor she went back to the construction crew and occasionally came back into the house and sang and whistled past us! Very very rude! And then the bizarre policy of not taking kids below 14! The nail on the coffin was booking.com! After being forced to cancel they say they refund after 7-12 days when we made an immediate payment! We left the boutique to look for alternative accomodation by now it was almost 8pm with no money and nowhere to sleep! I could say a lot more but really l wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that's looking for a clean and cosy place to relax and enjoy Hartees. NEVER use this place or any of the places Eleanor manages, she will make you feel like she's doing you a favour and will go out of her way to belittle you yet the place costs well over R1000 a night!...
Read moreThe room didn't feel clean, warm or welcoming. There were ants on the floor, the pillows were dirty, the cushions were left outside to get wet in the rain and no one bothered to bring them inside. The breakfast was disappointing. No one bothered to ask whether we eat a certain food or not, how we like our eggs done, what type of toast we prefer, whether we eat pork or not, these are just small things that make a big difference. We were just served everything on a plate covered with cling wrap on a tray and given to us in our room where there was no dining table or chairs to eat the breakfast on (I fully understand we are in a pandemic but you can sanitize the tables and chairs in your kitchen and ask guests where they would prefer to eat) and what we were not able to eat just went to waste. They also gave us cappuccino sachets instead of a hot cappuccino (for a guest house, I do believe you should at least offer good coffee). ||||There was just no love, care or effort put into the building and the hosting of guests. One of the garage doors were not automatic so when the other guests wanted to park their car, the guest had to get out in the rain to open the door manually (no one was there to help her). This place needs a lot of attention. Very sad to see a beautiful concept turn out this way. There was a lot of money spent on the actual building but the most important thing is being hospitable to your guests and ensuring they feel comfortable...
