Great Staff! I can’t say enough about the people at PWA. I had a pleasant experience with every person I encountered from my arrival to my departure. I arrived after hours and it was a bit confusing finding who to check in with because the reception area was closed. There is no sign and the building looks dark. After riding around the building I saw a light and found a security guard. He directed me to Power who had my key and happily showed me to my apartment. There was a little confusion because my information I received prior to arrival said I was in Apartment 411, but Power had been instructed to check me into 516 because there were people in 411. Apartment 516 is a 2 story apartment right across from the elevator so that was convenient. The furniture was modern and comfortable. I really enjoyed the fact that they had small blankets on all the beds because I like to throw something over me when watching television. There was tons of storage with the closets and plenty of space for multiple people to share the apartment without feeling crowded. I had two complaints during my stay. My first complaint was about the A/C vents being filthy. There was like an inch of dust in the return, but when I notified them they were in the apartment quickly to clean both vents. My other issue was the birds. The 5th floor is the top floor and in this particular unit the roof cover of the patio is damaged and the birds have nested in the slats. The patio stayed dirty while I was there. They would send people to clean the patio, but as soon as they were done the birds would poop again. The one time I attempted to walk out the patio door I was met by drops of bird poop, so I didn’t try that again because I’m a bit OCD. This was a bit disappointing because the patio was the main reason why I chose this accommodation over another option. PWA offers a laundry facility on site and the turnaround is same day if you get it down early enough. The location offers easy access to Ushaka Marine World where you will find a variety of dining, activity and shopping options. It’s also a short walk to the golden mile beach promenade that stretches all the way to the Suncoast Casino. I would definitely stay at PWA again as long as I am not in an apartment that doesn’t allow me to use the patio.

We stayed in room 502. Overall we had a good stay, the apartments are very spacious, well furnished and clean with everything you need, the staff are very friendly and welcoming as well. The seaview was lovely with a partial view of where the ships enter the harbour, our kids loved it! My only complaint would be state of the roof on the verandah, we had 2 nights of gusty wind and the racket that roof made was INTENSE! The doors going to the verandah are also not fitted properly so when the wind blows hard the wind howls very loudly through the piece of the door which is not flush with the wall. This did bother our kids and they struggled to sleep through. So I would definitely recommend that management tackle that issue ASAP. Other than that a very positive stay, nice and central and very close to uShaka making for a good hub to explore Durban.

The location is everything, with a great view of the ocean and/ harbour entrance. Sunrise was something special, from the panoramic balcony view and the floor to ceiling windows. The apartment service itself isn't hotel level. I called and asked the concierge for an adaptor to charge my phone, they didn't have one in the kitchen. It never came even though they said they'd bring it up. Otherwise, place was quiet, clean, easily accessible and close to Ushaka, the beach and other amenities along the golden mile. It's quite sparse, very bare minimum cutlery and crockery, no bottled water provided, no shower gel/lotion either, or even just hand wash in the bathroom, which was a bit disappointing for a relatively pricey self-catering digs.

Mold, Cockroaches, terrible attitude of Senior Managers/Owners who still want 50% even though I didnt spend the night - Quayside, Durban Point Waterfront.

I stay in the Durban area and the point waterfront area regularly. I am trying to support the redevelopment of this area by spending my money here. However PointWaterFront Apartments is going to drive people away from here.

After checking in ( which was friendly and good) there was electricity cuts/load shedding. When the electricity returned, I noticed when entering the shower that there was lots of black mold in the shower. Also mold around the bathroom basin. I shower anyway to get to dinner. I msgd the on duty manager and sent her pics of the mold and said its unacceptable. She msgd back saying they will sort it out in the morning. I said i am leaving in the morning obviously as i was only staying one night and they should not have put guests in this apartment in the first place. She offered to then send a cleaner, but i was already out, and told her to make sure its cleaned for their next guests at least. It was one night and i had already used the shower so i thought i would put up with it.

Upon returning from dinner around 9pm, as I put the apartment lights on i noticed cockroaches running around everywhere: kitchen, lounge, bedroom entrance. I killed about 5-6 before packing my luggage up and leaving. There was a cockroach in my luggage as well which was left open on the lounge floor.

I called the manager and told her theres a roach infestation and she said she will look for another apartment for me. However i decided quickly not to chance it and checked out and told the manager to fully refund me and get the general manager ANGIE to call me the next morning. I checked into another hotel for the night.

I unbelievably received no calls or communication from anyone from POINT WATERFRONT APARTMENTS the next day. I called the business number and the on duty manager GUGU told me that i should take this up with the booking site EXPEDIA. She was clearly not interested in hearing about my bad experience. I was flabbergasted that she would say this.

I got a watsapp message the next evening from the duty manager saying ANGIE THE GM, has been busy all day. I should take this up with the booking site but I would be getting back only 50% of my refund.

I dont recommend anyone book with PWA. There maybe a few nice apartments in their range but this is a serious hit/miss company with a terrible/flithy ethos. Their owners DUSTIN HAYMAN AND FARRAN-JADE BEAUMONT need to take responsibility for their business. 2 days later and still no call or apology from anyone of their senior...

Disappointing stay.

This place isn’t what is promised with their “lovely” images. FALSE ADVERTISING. We stayed in room 905, I have images to share but they won’t allow people to add images on the reviews and now I know why!!! They are scared for the images to be published.

Front desk lady is lovely. Security guards have a chip in their shoulders, aren’t helpful & cannot smile or greet a person.

The apartments view is lovely & the bed was comfortable and that is about it.

The bathroom - Shower leaks when you shower and you are given 1 shower mat (doesn’t help when the place is soaking wet) Toilet paper hanger is completely loose The toilet seat is smaller than the toilet bowl which is pretty gross for a lady as you need to sit to use the toilet and the seat doesn’t cover the front of the toilet bowl !!!!

Lounge Area The Sofa is terrible, squeaks for everything, super super uncomfortable and it is TINY for two people. Pretty disappointing because where else do you sit? Sit here for an hour and you will need the chiropractor! The curtains don’t touch the floor, they are about 3/4 curtains which just makes the place look cheap & not welcoming. The Tv can only play Netflix for kids because the other Chanel is locked. There is an annoying voice over that reads everything on the screen which cannot be turned off.

Outside The Webber is in disgusting condition. You wouldn’t dare braai your meat. The inside is completely rusted and dirty. Outside the paint is chipping off and rusting. The balcony felt & looked like it hadn’t been swept or cleaned in a while (feet were filthy) and the table is in need of some serious tlc.

Some serious help is needed because this unit could really be something nice & special. We didn’t even feel like staying there that’s how uncomfortable the entries unit was. Really...
