I have been to this restaurant a good few times. But never at peak lunch hour. Today I arrived there shortly after 12h30. All the tables were full. But we (party of three), were kindly asked to wait and, although they didn't have a seated waiting area they brought chairs for us to sit on. We waited perhaps 10 minutes. When taken to our table it was clearly freshly prepared. The servers were respectful and kind, and seem to work in unison. I'm uncertain if we were assigned a particular waitress, but this did not bother me in the slightest since drinks orders were promptly taken and delivered (in succession). Everyone seems to know what is going on all the time, working as a collective. These.are the things that really stood out for me.... I do not eat avo, always ask for it on the side so my friends may enjoy it. 99% of the time this is not the desired result. Today I ordered a falafel bowl. My friends ordered a salad and the mini burgers. When everything arrived, to my delight beautifully laid out is the avo on the side. The sauces for my bowl were arranged in a side tray allowing me to add as much or little as I wanted and the hummus and tsatsiki were clearly made from scratch. As are the falafel balls. A very generous portion. One of the best I have ever tasted. All at incredibly reasonable prices. With drinks and tip we averaged R200 each. Then one thing I've never experienced happened - the chef came out to ask my friend if she could make her a fresh salad, on the house, to take home... because she noticed how much lettuce she had removed from her plate and not eaten. This is something I always do, as I find too much lettuce in most green salads, but am still able to thoroughly enjoy the meal. I have to emphasize... there was not a complaint from us, our meals were delicious. It was purely an observation made by someone. And then the CHEF comes out to apologize and ask how she can remedy what she considers a problem.
This little gem of a restaurant is worth coming back to again and again for the food, the location and the ambiance... but now, more than anything, for the service and...
Read moreThis place is cute for a nice breakfast/ brunch date. I was with my friend and the service there was amazing, also the food was great BUT I did not get to finish it as an accident happened while we were still dining at the restaurant. Now this is where my 5 star review comes in… in no way were the staff at the breakfast room involved in the accident but I guess as a patron in their establishment, they felt compelled to attend to the situation immediately. Someone knocked my car at the parking lot, while I was still dining inside the restaurant. The staff from the breakfast room quickly rushed to the scene and calmly escorted me out to try and remediate the situation. The accident was quite bad, as there were 3 cars involved and the people who caused the accident was not communicating with any of us at all. So we had no idea what happened but the TBR staff were there to calmly relay everything and also offered the meals on the house! I must say that was unexpected as they had absolutely to do with the accident but thank you so much to them. Unfortunately I did not get their names but kudos to you guys and thank you for such a seamless experience in your establishment. I’m definitely coming again and hopefully this time around, I’ll get to enjoy and finish...
Read moreI’ve eaten here so many times and the food was amazing, so you can imagine my disappointment when they didn’t deliver. Last Friday my partner and I went for breakfast and we ordered our coffees and meals. They got his drink order wrong and it took so long for them to correct it, I finished mine and our food arrived and they still hadn’t brought the right drink. I even had to remind the waitress. I ordered Tacos and they were DRENCHED in oil. I literally had 3 bites and each bite tasted like cholesterol. The taste completely masked all the other ingredients. The bacon was so hard, it was like the refried left over bacon from the day before. The taco shells had even softened at the bottom because of the oil, and it’s not like I waited to have my meal, I ate as soon as it got to me. When I lightly pressed my taco, oil starter dripping, that’s how much there was. It was such a disgusting sight and the taste made me nauseous. I ended up not even eating. What a waste of my time and money, and we had been looking forward to going out for breakfast on our day off for as long as we booked our leave. It was 1 of my favourite breakfast spots and the aim was to eventually have had everything on the menu but I’m definitely never going back. The star is coz I...
