I, myself, work at a guest house and have been in the hospitality industry for the past 16 years. Guests are very easy to complain and bad mouth an establishment on social media or on Google reviews. You want a flat screen TV, bigger kettle, bigger this, bigger that, but you moan and groan about the rates and that we must give you a better price. You leave the lights and the aircon on – which we have to pay for, because you have no respect for someone else’s property due to the fact that it is not your property to maintain. You eat take away food and operate the remotes with your oily, fatty fingers, steal our towels and toilet paper.
But most people can never say THANK YOU for booking me in at such a late hour of the night or THANK YOU for arranging food while I was not booked for dinner or THANK YOU that your staff is tolerant because I am such an ungrateful, demanding and self centered human being, because I think I am the only guest who stays on your property.
You break glasses, cups and saucers in the room and expect us to let it go, because you paid for your accommodation and did us a huge favour. Certain people – get off your high horse and open your eyes at what we have to deal with in this industry. We do not make tons of money or make a fat profit. You think we pay less for groceries than you do or that we get a 30 day account for it. Surprise! We don’t. So next time when you want to bad mouth any establishment, please go and have a look at your flat screen TV, aircon and big size kettle at YOUR OWN HOUSE and all those demands you throw at the receptionist.
We have recommended Eskulaap as an alternative when we are fully booked for years and I can vouch that this place is respectable...

Read moreafter reading a lot of negative reviews about the hotel i decided to check it out and my wife and i ended up spending a couple of nights there which included great and friendly service. it was clean and quite now i wasn't looking for self catering accommodation so microwave and a full dstv package extra multi plugs and all the extras i have read the keyboard warriors complain about wasn't an issue. for the price i paid per night for 2 people that you might end up paying per person at most other places i was fully satisfied and have already booked again. to all the keyboard warriors out there i have spend a lot of time in guest houses, lodges and hotels all over africa for many years you guys should remember if there is a problem try and resolve it immediately instead of running towards google you can stay in a lot of worst places...
