Uhuru Cafe & Wine Emporium — Restaurant in Polokwane Local Municipality

My experience was traumatising to say the least. This is a terrible restaurant! My two sisters and I went to celebrate one of their birthday’s there and not only was the waiter extremely rude but as we left he badgered me for my number and even followed me to my car. After paying, the waiter insisted that my transaction didn’t go through even after I told him the money was deducted from my account. He assured me it would reverse so I paid again. A week later I realised the first transaction was not reversed and the money was deducted so I went to the restaurant to enquire where again the manager patronised me and made very inappropriate comments about my looks. He went as far as touching me. When I reprimanded his behaviour he did not apologise but continued to patronise me. They gave me a lot of trouble before actually refunding me claiming that they had record of only one transaction even after I printed my bank statement for them. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views both indoors and outdoors. The food was delicious and well-cooked, and everyone at home kept asking me where the place is after seeing the pictures.

I did face a minor issue with the outdoor seating. The chair outside was too small for me as a plus-size person, so I kindly asked the waitress if I could use a wider chair from one of the empty tables inside. She initially refused, saying it was against the manager’s rules. However, a few minutes later, she changed her mind and brought me the chair. Although I appreciated her coming back with it, I was a bit disappointed, as I felt that it was not manager's rules,it's just her.

I made a booking for my colleagues and I was hugely disappointed. They are visiting the area from other regions in the country and had nothing positive to say about Uhuru. Our table was set up with no decor, only 3 staff serving and 2 in the kitchen and we waited over an hour to be served our food and had to remind the waiters with no answers, which others had to send back as it was undercooked.
