My girlfriend and I sadly ended our two week Christmas and New Years South African holiday with a 2 night stay at Fleur du Soleil in Franschhoek. I say sadly because we did not want to leave this amazing guesthouse and town.

We arrived to a warm friendly welcome on the afternoon of New Years Eve 2015. (We took an Uber from Cape Town FYI.) Leading up to our stay, communication with Tina the owner always was amazing. Tina is filled with local knowledge and gladly shares ideas on places to go as well as the best transportation options. She also offered to arrange bookings for us as New Years is naturally a busy time. Very thoughtful. We had dinner at The French Connection on the main street in Franschhoek which is a very short walk from the guesthouse. New Years Eve was amazing - great service, great food, great wine and great fun.

The Fleur du Soleil property is lovely. We stayed in the Angel Suite - book this one if you can - it is perfect! The room is on the ground floor and is huge by B&B standards. It has a large very comfortable bed (king size I think) with lots of pillows and great linens. There is air conditioning and a fan. It was nearing 40C degrees when we were there but even without the air conditioner on it seemed cool. The bathroom in the Angel Suite is huge, beautiful, very clean and completely white even the floors. Two sinks on opposite walls, a bath tub and a walk in shower with a great shower head. The room is very well appointed. There closet space and a safe for your valuables as well as a handy fridge that kept our wine cool for sipping by the pool. Speaking of the pool, this room opens up into the backyard and the pool. The water temp was spot-on and the garden surrounding the pool is filled with lots great plants and flowers. I travel nearly every week for work and would be very happy to have a room like this anywhere I stayed.

Breakfast is basically anything you like as there is so much on the menu for a B&B. When we arrived we filled out our breakfast orders for the two days and what time we wanted them. I had the full monty - eggs bacon, sausage, beans, tomato, mushrooms and more. The kitchen island was filled with different yogurts with fresh fruit and muesli along with cheese and cold cuts. Lots of good coffee and tea and a choice to eat indoors or out. A 5 star breakfast I would say.

There is something special about Fleur du Soleil. You feel at home and welcome. Other guests we met were so nice too.

If you do go, be sure to learn about the Sunflower theme while you are there - it will touch your heart.

We will be back for sure.

PS…the free wifi worked...

My husband and I went to South Africa and stayed at Fleur du Soleil in Franschhoek for 4 nights last week (August 2025). There were many hotels, b&b, and Airbnb’s to choose from and we spent many hours researching- but boy are we glad we settled on Fleur Du Soleil. The great customer service began weeks before our arrival with communication from Stan and Anton on when we’d like our spa services? And while they noticed we requested a view of the mountains in our booking notes- but there isn’t one with the suite we chose. Would we like this other suite instead? We upgraded and were so happy we did, it was a stunning suite with a gorgeous view. Very comfortable, they proved a welcome port, wine was available for purchase as well as snacks. We felt very comfortable and taken care of. When we arrived, three members came out to greet us and grab our luggage, and they were also lovely and friendly. Veronica was there to help us with anything we needed - recommending restaurants, providing suggestions on which wineries to visit, helping us move the day and time of massages. Every night we selected our breakfast choices and requested it in our room rooms, and they would bring everything up, including fresh baked croissants and jams, eggs, bacon, orange juice, fresh fruit, and a delicious French pressed coffee that we missed when we travelled on to other parts of South Africa. The 5 pounds gained was well worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat. If I’m lucky to travel to Franschhoek again in the future, I will 100% book my stay at...

Fleur du Soleil luxury Guesthouse is an absolute gem, situated in walking distance of Franschoek Village. We were warmly greeted by Marius, Pearl & Michelle. Their welcoming smiles (eyes) behind the masks made us feel instantly welcomed. The cold bubbly and professional book in process by Marius further impressed.Stunning eye catching reception area! We were offered a complimentary room upgrade, most unexpected, but so much appreciated! We got the Vignobles room...what a stunning spacious room, beautifully decorated and comfortable. All the extra touches in the room showed the care & attention to client service..really makes you feel important. The bed & pillows were super comfy, so too the bedding. Their breakfasts are well prepared & tasty, beautifully served and with so much attention to detail. Loved it! A special word of thanks to Marius & team for the WOW surprise on our last night..beautiful artful display with stunning roses on our bed and bubbly on ice! Our room looked amazing. Thanks Guys! We enjoyed every minute at your fab place...very quiet & peaceful. Marius is an absolute gem, knowledgable of Franschoek & surrounds and very client centric..great demeanor. Nothing is too much to do.The girls are thorough and you see that in the way they took care preparing the room & food and general service (done with a smile) The ideal place to stay if you love attention to detail & exceptional service! We will definitely be back. Thank you Anton, Marius,...

Overpriced and overhyped – more energy goes into plaques on the wall than into the basics. Clean, central and with kind local staff, but the reality is nowhere near five-star. Details? No socket in the bathroom, so you end up crawling under the desk to use the hairdryer. Wooden blinds are a daily fight. The “luxury” bathtub is useless because the water runs brown and musty – blaming the mountains doesn’t help when filters and boreholes exist. Breakfast means filling out a form the night before like school lunch, and there’s not even a cappuccino – while the most basic B&B next door managed that without blinking. Coffee in the room is free, but everything else comes with a price list that feels like parody. The breakfast room itself is just a corner with buzzing fridges and a TV – you can sit outside if the weather’s warm enough. Worst of all, after leaving we received a long, intrusive email from the owners, full of excuses and self-promotion. Instead of listening and improving, the focus was on defending and explaining – which says it all.

The best guesthouse what we ever been! I travelled around for around 100 countries, but this is by far the best guesthouse! From the welcoming till the goodbye was absolutely amazing! With their little extra details everywhere, it feels like a first-class experience and service! I had the pleasure to have a look in most of the rooms and all are stunning, brand new, and clean. The Manager of the place absolutely professional and he is taking care of much more than your stay. He is amazing in organizing wine trips, transportation, reservations or whatever you need. He always wants to do the extra effort and service to make your stay and holidays special and easy for you. Amazing as well is the Bar place who is 24/7 open with everything that you can imagine. The place secure and safe, you have as well secured parking spot. Near by there are restaurants easy for walking.

Our stay in Franschhoek at the Fleur du Soleil Guesthouse was delightful. I highly recommend that you stay here if you visit the Cape Winelands. Our accommodations were exceptional (Le Coucher Suite), the breakfast was extraordinary (I'm still dreaming about the fresh croissants and homemade jams!), and the town and nearby wineries were spectacular! But most of all, I appreciated the attention to every detail by the hotel staff, particularly Stanley and Wendy. Everything was expertly arranged, from dinner reservations to 2 days of winery tours, including the Private Wine Experience Day offered by the Guesthouse. I also enjoyed an in-suite spa treatment while my husband rented a bike and rode nearby trails one afternoon. The best part of staying at the Guesthouse was the friendly, welcoming environment. We can't wait to come back!
