Beautiful setting and it’s worth a visit, it’s very tourist oriented and one can certainly get the atmosphere of Southern Africa , the stalls are predominantly Handmade crafts . But BEWARE of prices as I experienced… I bought various items from different stalls and I would say that mostly you pay good value . BUT … there’s a jewellery stall “MIKY ROSE” she did not repeat the price of the two rings I was interested in buying and NO prices were displayed … I asked about the one ring and it’s properties ( gem or not gem ) she could not give me the information. I bought the rings as I had just purchased some silver gem rings from another stall and the were 640 Rands … as the card machine/pin card does not show the amount, I never thought they would be more , ONLY when I checked my balance once home to discover I paid 2000Rands for two very simple rings. I contacted Miky Rose by FB messenger to inquire about the pricing , she has read the enquiry but not answered…. So I presume that she is too proud … my entire day was ruined by a Rip-off merchant . BECAREFUL….Do not let merchants ruin...

....After our scrumptious breakfast we decide to walk it off in the Franschhoek Village Market, what an interesting experience to see so many stalls selling anything from African print materials to different-lii priced jewellery. Don’t talk about the countless number of food stalls even a coffee-truck and a bus-bookshop. They have a smokers corner where you can sit and enjoy your cigarettes or pipe. The vibe is live-lii with the live entertainment offered. If you are in the area and have lots of time on hand please make a point of popping in to browse or to buy.....NB! They have their Covid-19 Safety Policy in place “No Mask” No entree and before you enter they Spray your hands with Hand Sanitiser and your Temperature is taken so it...

The good thing about this market is that it's not crowded and congested - there is a good vibe but you can still have your own space.

It's easy to move around and the stalls are neatly laid out.

Not too much pressure from the sellers and some are more than keen to have chats rather than push for a sale.

There is lots of seating (with tables) and live entertainment.

Kids can also entertain themselves at the attached play park, though I would reccommend that parents keep an eye on them.

There are bathrooms, but you have to pay R2 to use them.

Ample parking is available and there is lots of shade to offer some protection...

As far as markets go it has some really nice stalls. Bargains are far and few between and the beer stall sells you a 500ml beer in a 330 ml cup for R50, not cool. The food vendors are nothing special to write home about and the tacos take so long to make and were very skimpy on the cheese and slightly burnt tacos. A cup of juice will set you back R70. Just sharing my experience, I am sure that there are some great experiences and deal to be had but a bit of a tourist trap.
