My recent stay at the Premier Hotel Richards Bay left me with mixed feelings, leading me to rate it a modest 3 out of 5 stars. As a seasoned traveler accustomed to the standards of 4-star accommodations, I found this hotel slightly missing the mark, aligning more with a 3-star rating.
Firstly, the hotel presents a decent facade. However, the lack of shaded parking was a minor inconvenience, especially noticeable upon my late-night arrival and in the rain. Speaking of which, the absence of available food options at that hour was a drawback for me.
The room’s comfort was satisfactory, but the air conditioning system raised some concerns. Despite setting it to a brisk 16 degrees, the room temperature felt more like a warm 24 degrees, hinting at possible issues with the system or lack of proper ventilation.
Another point of disappointment was the lack of a refrigerator in my room, a feature I’ve come to expect in 4-star hotels.
On to the breakfast experience - it was average at best. The service failed to impress; I had to request a cup of coffee and never received an offer for a refill, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy.
In summary, while the Premier Hotel Richards Bay is a relatively nice establishment, it falls short of the 4-star experience. It would be more aptly classified as a 3-star hotel, and had it been advertised as such, my expectations and consequent rating might have been...
Read moreI can write a thesis about my stay but let me hope whoever it may concern will ascertain improvement. Security was there but we ended blowing hooter for attention One of opened but suprised by one of outside guard room combing her hair using the window as mirror and never looked our way we just had find our way and ended up driving ahead only to find its towards construction side and had to reverse as there was a car parked on drive way .
Car was not scanned neither registered 😑
The receptionist was very efficient, friendly, helpful informative and professional so was the guy who offered to help with bags .
There was no effort on food presentation and preparations in general on top is breakfast fruits and sausages which needs a second eye .
For the filling of what was already finished.one had to ask but nothing was done. Kitchen staff just waiting to be asked about everything. At least their responses were respectful though short which require multiple follow ups
waiters were friendly and consistently checking up to help until one of them decided to act on instructions from cleaning staff
Room was very neat and clean everyday
The tip of the iceberg that tilted the titanic and propelled this review was being asked to leave dining area while eating breakfast because it's 10h10 and they want to clean I left quietly with food in mouth
The noise level from fellow lodgers or workers in passages...
Read moreAfter doing research, this is one of the best hotels to stay in Richards Bay and Empangeni. It is in a nice safe location, not too far from the beach, Pelican Island and Boardwalk Mall. It doesn't look fancy on the outside and leaves you wondering what lies inside. As soon as you enter, you see a very pretty set up. It was a business trip and a colleague and I had separate rooms. Upon showering, my room flooded and upon speaking to my colleague, she said her shower was a proper one and mine was a tub with a shower head- I just wondered why was this old fashioned type of shower still being used and why some rooms had a full on shower stall. Upon complaining to management about my flooded room, I was moved to the executive floor- 3rd floor and I was set up in a very nice room and offered dessert to make up for the inconvenience. I can't recall her name, but she took me upstairs immediately and called for assistance to have my bag moved. She was quick and efficient and made up immensely for what had happened. The 3rd floor rooms are certainly more pricey- I could see the difference clearly, so, if you ever stay at this hotel and you can afford that room- it's...
