I was in Seoul for a couple of weeks and stayed in 3 rooms all on the same floor, switching because the 1st room was due for pest spraying; the 2nd for an afternoon until they asked me to move to the 3rd for an unexplained reason [spraying?]. They were apologetic and gave me 2 welcome drink [tea or coffee] tickets and helped move my luggage the 2nd move, but not the 1st.||||Pros: ||[] Staff were moderately friendly;||[] The rooms were fine overall - not big by North American standards but not too small;||[] Toiletries were free - as expected for the rate, but some earlier reviewers had to pay;||[] Toiletries: shampoo, cond, body soap, body lotion, toothbrush/paste, comb, ear buds;||[] 2 complimentary 500mL bottles of water/day;||[] rooms had a small desk/chair in addition to bed, lounge chair and small table;||[] rooms were generally clean;||[] rooms had a kettle, a cold mini-fridge, and 2 instant coffee, 2-3 sugar and 2 Korean tea;||[] location is roughly 15 minutes walk to either Sinsa or Apgujeong subway stations;||[] several restaurants and a Mini Stop convenience store located across the street;||||Cons:||[] there is a card one is asked to use regarding having the sheets changed. It states: "...sheets will not be changed only on the day you leave card on the bed." So, placed on the desk, for example, indicates you want the sheets changed. After verifying my understanding with the Front Desk, I found getting the sheets changed was hit and miss no matter where in the room I left the card. No matter what, somedays the sheets weren't changed when wanted.||[] Cleanliness: overall clean, but some days the toilet wasn't cleaned, other days, something was forgotten - bath mat, toothbrush, in-room coffee items resupply; the soap dish was rarely cleaned, and the glass holding my toothbrush wasn't cleaned for over a week. ||[] the drawer with the coffee and cups is located just under the desk, so it is an awkward reach to get at those items [as if the desk is an afterthought].||[] due to the hotels location, even on the top floor [7th] rooms are noisy and ear plugs are recommended. Previous reviewers mentioned the noisy nightclub - it was under renovation when I stayed in May, 2017. I hope the hotel adds another glaze or other soundproofing layer to windows.||[] the TV is mounted too low on the wall so viewing it while lying on your side in bed is difficult, and the English channels offered were few;||[] both the wifi router and a bedside control monitor glow too brightly at night, and the monitor also makes an odd bubbling sound, so if you need darkness to sleep, in addition to the aforementioned ear plugs an eye mask is a necessity. ||||Overall, I'd stay here again/recommend the hotel with the proviso one brings ear plugs and eye masks and keeps on top of...
Read moreThis is my hotel of choice when I spend few days in Seoul for business. Clean, courteous staff, rooms are not big but comfortable and well insulated from the outer noise – and, in winter, from the cold weather. All you need, including free water bottles, is there. ||||During this recent stay I had a couple of small remarks to make. One is the fact that the breakfast – my fault not asking it while checking in – was not included. First, I find a bit excessive to pay 15,000 Won for the amount and the variety of food provided. Second, and more annoying, I don’t see why you must pay on the spot, and it’s not possible to charge it to the room bill. The restaurant changed the style – till a while ago it was an Italian place, named Il Mare (the Sea), now no more, and some rule must have changed – for the worse. ||||The other is related to the sink in the room toilet. Now, tell me: who’s at fault for this mishap? See the pictures: the selection of the sink – ceramic, square, with high edges and its faucet is totally wrong. The faucet mouth is barely two fingers above the sink edge, and so close to the sink corner that you can’t simply put the hands under the water without spilling it all around the vanity top and in some cases up to the bath tub! Now tell me: it’s some crazy architect blunder? Or it’s simply some overstock of material, that was wrongly put together where obviously sink and faucet don’t match? I saw in some of the hotel pictures on Tripadvisor that the same faucet is used in other bathrooms, but the sink is under the vanity top level, not on top of it! Either you change one, or the other! Room is 721. ||||Having expressed my complains, now a big word of praise for the clerk who’s welcoming you when you are back to the hotel after a days’ work. His name is Jason, and he’s one of the most courteous human beings ever met. Kind, respectful and friendly at the same time, without ever descending into a silly flattery. The perfect hotel employee. Not to mention that he speaks a perfect English, which is not absolutely a given in Korea. Nice to see you...
