We stayed here for one night, this place has a great location, near the city walls of Avila. We stayed in room 202 and this room seems to be located just under the restaurant. There was a lot of noise, people moving chairs, running around, talking. We called the reception and they said they would try to reduce the noise, but no succes... It has a wooden ceiling so very little sound absorbing. The noise of the restaurant lasted until 1.30 am. After that there was a lot of talking going on, until 2.00 am. Had to get up at 8.00 am because we planned a road trip through Spain and this is not ideal if you have a long drive coming up. Told the lady at the reception that we got very little sleep and they were fully understanding and not comfortable with the situation, they offered us a free breakfast, which is very kind. |So for me problem a bit solved but a good sleep is far more important than free breakfast and I think that other people could react in an other way (angry) than I did. Still gave you guys a good review but keep those things in mind to not let it happen again. Greetings...
Read moreAn overnight to have a look at the lovely old city of Avila. Right at the walls ,near one of the main gates, this hotel is not big but is nicely done out inside . Our room was more than adequate , facing the ( quite busy at times ....the streets come to life quite early in the morning here ) street on the reception side of the hotel . The other side would face the walls and you can exit to that side via the restaurant at most times ( not late at night though). Decent modern bathroom ... a flashing showerhead , woo hoo, but a crack in the basin ...not really serious in reality. ||Friendly personnel based on our short interactions , and breakfast , albeit fairly basic, was good quality, nicely set out and I think was good value at Eur 5.||Aircon seemed a bit weak so maybe as well it was cooling down from the summer peaks ( and the city is 3700 feet up...so the height of Scafell Pike / Snowdon ) ....||A solid 3 star hotel for a decent rate ...a good 8.5 out of 10. Torrance Traveller warns you : Avila is pretty shut up on a Sunday evening so check...
Read moreCute hotel, well located - the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast wasn’t amazing, but well suited for the 5€. The HUGE downside was four creepy guys hanging in the lobby at night. The first night we arrived one guy was looking around and another was hanging in front of the rooms. We thought he was security, which he was not! Unfortunately, they were harassing me and my girlfriend by offering to sleep in our room. After we declined they followed us and knocked on our door a few times. We panicked and called the hotel security and they handled the situation instantly. Until now we don’t know what happened or who the guys were, just that the next morning they were not around. Would not recommend for solo...
