We stayed here for 2 nights in January and we were pleasantly surprised by this hotel room!
Whilst the hotel is very conveniently located less than a 30 seconds walk from Parallel metro station, it was a bit hard to find at first as the hotel entrance was a little hard to find. However the hotel staff had messaged us on WhatsApp before our arrival to confirm our room was ready, so a quick WhatsApp message helped us to find the entrance. For future reference to anyone reading this, the entrance is the big glass door with the ‘1’ above it next door to the Plaza restaurant.
When checking in, the hotel staff were patient and friendly. We had been sent an online check in link, but it did not work on my phone initially, so the lady at check in was very patient while we completed this. I believe her name was Erika.
The hotel in general was just five rooms so was very small inside, but our room did not feel small at all and was a very good use of the space. We were worried it would be tiny but this was not the case!
The bed was also very comfy as well as very large and both the bedroom and the bathroom were very clean. The room was very nicely decorated and we appreciated the full length mirror!
The location was good - within walking distance of central Barcelona (10-15 mins walk to Las Ramblas, 25-30 mins to Sagrada Familia). And the Parallel metro station is almost right outside the hotel entrance which was perfect for us. There are also some nice bars and restaurants within walking distance!
Ignore the comments about it being too noisy because it is best to a busy road. It is true that it is next to a busy road but this didn’t prevent us sleeping at night. Even though the hotel did provide free ear plugs to use, we did not need to use them.
The hotel really should advertise that there are free pastries and coffee for breakfast! And the water cooler was very useful for us too.
My only complaint would be that the air-con / ventilation system in the room did not go cool enough. It only went to 18C, which was ok for us in January but would be too warm in summer. Also the lift did not work for us on two occasions when entering the building, but only a minor inconvenience as the hotel rooms are only on the 3rd floor of the building.
We would definitely consider staying here again if visiting Barcelona...
Read moreWe stayed very recently at Casa Vaganto for 8 nights - overall we had a really pleasant stay and it's definitely a lovely hotel. There are a couple of small things that weren't perfect but in general very happy we picked this spot and great value for money. The rooms are very homely and comfortable, the beds are very comfortable with a range of pillow types and the AC works perfectly. We didn't find the rooms noisy the double glazed windows work excellently well and it's a really nice space to return to after a day of exploring, very calm and tranquil. The three doors between us and the outside world made me feel very secure there as well. The location is brilliant literally steps from the metro station - whilst the immediate neighbourhood isn't the trendiest part of Barcelona it's got still some lovely restaurants and easy going bars around and everyone we met was very friendly. The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and friendly and I have to thank them for letting us stay later than the usual check out time for free on our last day as I sadly came down with a flu. It was really appreciated whilst I tried to rest a little more and recover. Small niggling issues that stop it from being a 5 star for us were that the housekeeping wasn't often perfect - we kept not being given any more toilet paper and had to keep grabbing some ourselves from the toilets in the lobby which was a little annoying considering we were staying over a week. Our bin never got taken the whole time we were there which meant it was overflowing by the time we left, again because we had stayed for a while and had the complimentary breakfast options every morning. Our shower also overflowed and flooded our bathroom on the last day which wasn't a huge issue and they did apologise for but it did mean we couldn't shower before we left as well. Small things but did make it feel not quite completely perfect but overall a very pleasant place I'd recommend for a...
Read moreI just had an excellent experience at Casa Vaganto. I stayed for three nights. The first night I arrived a bit late but they reached out to me to arrange someone to let me in and that person reached out to me as well, so no issues getting in at all. I think we used WhatsApp primarily which seems to be quite common. The hotel itself is an older building that has been restored very nicely. Everything worked and felt very solid; there were plenty of outlets, USB outlets, and plenty of lighting options. There was a great place to hang my clothes and arrange my things. Plenty of space for toiletries in the bathroom, a very spacious shower and, again, everything worked, plus extra large thick towels. The room also has a refrigerator and a safe. They provide bottled water and provide more if you need it. The room had amazing air conditioning which was so nice after spending time outside in the summer. I slept really well, including siestas. Even though the hotel is on a small square and although the hotel provided earplugs, I had no problems with noise, even though I was on the (American) second floor. I did not use the earplugs. The breakfast is done a bit differently. They have coffee, tea, cocoa, orange juice, milk, nondairy milk, and water available at all times that the reception is open, plus fruit, yogurt, and muffins. In the morning, they have fresh warm croissants and pain au chocolat. They currently don't have a large area to eat, so you just take your items and go to your room or out. A lounge area is being developed - if that is a deal-breaker for you. The location is very close to some main routes and a metro station, very walkable. It's an easy walk to Mercado de la Boqueria, La Ramble, the port, etc. and lots of restaurants and stores nearby. I would definitely...
