I recently stayed in vivood I booked for two days with my friend and I am sorry to say that I am disappointed by my experience and won't be recommending it to my friends.
I have listed below the things with our experience that were not inline with the expectations that were set on the website.
We requested two beds on our reservation but when we arrived the room was set up as a double. When we asked for two singles we were told that we would have to pay for this. Eventually reception realised they had made a mistake and that we wouldn't have to pay but we had to vacate the room for an hour for the changes to happen. After getting up at 3am for a flight I was disappointed that I couldn't arrive at the hotel and have the nap I was expecting.
On the reservation we let you know that one of us was vegetarian. When arriving at the restaurant there was only one option that was suitable for a vegetarian. I was disappointed that you hadnt sourced some alternative options for my stay. This resulted in one guest having the same vegetarian dinner for two nights - not acceptable given we had specifically flagged vegetarian prior to our stay and there are no alternative food options in the area.
We booked an adults only hotel, as listed on your website and when we arrived at reception we were told the same thing. However there was a child on the premises. Having a child in the hotel is in direct conflict with what your website promotes.
We did mention this to your receptionist Lucia who was lovely and offered us the use of a private hot tub as compensation. However the hot tub was luke warm at best. If I had booked a hot tub suite I would have been disappointed.
The ethos of the hotel is of silence and calm. We were asked to respect this and to not use our mobile phones in the communal areas. However other guests have been using their phones loudly and none of the staff raised this as an issue with the person. As well as this throughout our stay you have had people doing maintaince of the hotel communal areas. This included them picking up and dropping the sofas very loudly. I appreciate they have a job to do but it very much disrupted the clam environment.
Throughout our stay you have had a team of people taking photos of the hotel. Every time we wanted to use the pool they were taking photos. We were offered to use the pool but clearly I don't want to swim with a team of photographers looking and me and waiting to me to finish so they cna do their job. It felt like I had to sit around and wait for them to finish for me to use the communal space I was paying for.
I appreciate that you need to do work during off season. However we were not given any warning about the work or discount on our stay. The maintenance and photography was very disruptive and not what we were expecting in a hotel that promotes 'silence and calm'.
The lounge is full of flies. I am sat with my coffee and I have to put a plate over it to ensure that the flies don't go in it. I have attached photos to demonstrate. There could be environmentally friendly lemon candles that deter this.
One thing I don't understand is why as an eco hotel you constantly use bottled water. It doesn't seem inline with...
Read moreBeautiful environment and setting. It lacks maintenance and gardening. If you pay 300 euro for a 'luxury' room and you sell it as 'de lujo' of luxury' I expect it to be like that. I don't want to see weeds on my privat staircase or at my entrance. I want things to work like normal. I have a hotel as well so I know how much hard work goes in it and how much you have to work on details. I normally don't write reviews because there are always a bit tricky/ I changed my mind on the morning of check out. The lady at check out was very rude. We had the ventilator of the bathroom running for the night. It wouldn't stop. We tried to pull al the plugs but without result. As they said it is a quiet hotel and you have to enjoy the silence it was quite difficult with this sound. I went to reception but had a fight with my husband because he did not want to spend again an hour waisting his sleep by waiting for somebody to fix the problem. (although it was hard to sleep anyway with that noise) . I wanted to go and sleep in the car as I was upset. We tried putting a towel in the tube but that did not cover the noise. A nice guy came and he pulled a fuse to stop the noise. The epson beamer in the room to view movies or netflix did not work for two days despite the good effort of the guy trying to fix it, we waited for him for an hour because he went for dinner, no offence,. We did not know that we had to pay an extra 30 euro per day to get this. So when mentioning this they deducted 60 euro but no apology for spending a short night and she laughed when we mentioned something about the noise.. When checking in they offer a 10 procent discount on your next visit or for your friends but they did not do this with us. I have pictures of the weeds on the staircase if management wants to see them. So I can't understand that people cleaning the room don't see that weed is growing everywhere, the the white wall have a lot of black stripes of others people bags or shoes or whatsoever. The jacuzzi is quite cold and not to be enjoyed in the evening as it is too cold. So that kind of room needs a better eye on detail. They are way to sloppy and will not recommend this to anybody. I understand you sell a concept but then you have to keep your eye on every detail. It is overpriced and the only reason is because the staff is not well briefed and not doing their job. You should respect your...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Vivood for 10 nights with my girlfriend. Firstly it is extremely unique which was one of the reasons we booked. I loved that it had the look of the house from the film 'Ex Machina' or a Bond film.
Anyway, we stayed in a luxury villa for the first 5 days and then in a double suite for the last 5. I recommend splashing out on a villa if you can afford it (or get a special deal) even if it's for part of your stay. We had our own little plunge pool and double jacuzzi with the most amazing views and also a nice terrace. In the villa there is also a projector to watch Netflix if you want which is a nice touch. All controlled by ipads on the walls. The double room is lovely and has everything you need (Bed, coffee machine, fridge, bathroom) and all is air conditioned.
The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the restaurant is by way of a little buffet on your table with a mixture of food. Everything from fruit to croissants to cheese. The restaurant is also nice for evening meals however the menu isn't massive so may run out of dishes if you eat there every night.
The beauty of the hotel is the location and obviously it is very remote. There are two small towns which are walkable however on an evening you'd struggle to find another restaurant within walking distance. We had a hire car to venture further afield. Altea and Altea Hills are about a half an hour drive and have a lot of nice restaurants.
I recommend taking comfortable footwear as the paths around the hotel and area are hilly and some are steep. I also recommend taking lots of mosquito repellent. The spa is a nice treat, we enjoyed the 5 elements
package where you spend 20 minutes in each different area. Very relaxing.
I could write all night about our stay at the Vivood. I highly recommend this hotel for a unique and relaxing break. For the full experience treat yourself to a villa, even just for one day of your stay. You will...
