We have just returned home after a perfect week at Tora. Peguera is a part of the island we hadn't visited before, and knew little about, so we did the research, lots of research! We narrowed it down to a few hotels in the town and the reviews swung it in Toras direction so we booked it. Any questions we had prior to arriving were answered quickly and politely, so that put our minds at ease that we had made the right choice. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised at how clear, tidy and well decorated the entrance, reception and pool area was. We were quickly checked in and shown the bike storage area, which was probably what swung us to booking here. The bike storage is massive, and very secure. We even had a member of staff call in to check everything was OK when we were getting our bikes out, which reassured us that they take bike security very serious here. The room itself (pool view room) was easily the best 3 star hotel room we've stayed in, and I would say on par with a lot of 4 star rooms we have stayed in. There is a huge wardrobe, a handy fridge, to keep those cycling snacks and drinks cool, and the bathroom was spotless and had everything we needed. The beds (2 large singles) were very comfortable, and the sheets, pillows, etc were all spotlessly clean. There is also a large TV in the room, should you ever feel the need to watch a bit of TV. There is also a large balcony on these rooms, which had a couple of chairs and a small table. Easily big enough to sit out and have a drink, etc. The only minor complaints we had was a lack of drying facilities on the balcony, for towels, swimmers, cycling kit, etc. To dry things we had to throw them over the balcony railings, which isn't the tidiest look, and takes away from the look of the building from the pool area. A drop down towel hanger could easily be added to the balcony wall, to allow you to dry things and not spoil the views for others. We also found the walls very thin. We found this out when some people checked in to the room next door very late at night! We had asked for a quiet room, and this was probably about the quietest room on the complex, but the walls don't block noise very well, so it would be worth packing ear plugs, especially during the busier months. The noise from the streets however was very low, considering how close you are to the main strip in town. The odd delivery lorry early in the morning was about all you can hear. The food, the kitchen staff and the dining room staff were all first class. There was always plenty of choice for your breakfast and evening meals, even for a none meat eater like myself. The paella, pumpkin curry and mussels being a favourite for me, and of course the churros for breakfast! As well as being a good choice of food, it was always well prepared, well presented and there never seemed like there was going to be a lot wasted at the end of service, which is great to see. The staff were always smiling, friendly and efficient, and the fresh cooked breakfasts and fish, etc were always done to perfection.
If you're looking at somewhere to stay in the area, and especially if you're looking to do some cycling round here, then I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I have already recommended it to one friend, for a small group cycling holiday and they have booked to stay here. We don't normally go to the same place twice for a holiday, but I think Tora would be the one place that would really test that "rule". It really is that good. If we come back then maybe we'll get our welcome drinks that we...
Read moreworst hotel I stayed in Mallorca, it does not deserve this 4.4 rating: rooms are noisy, you can hear every noise from neighbors, running water, tv, talks, sneeze, etc. no bottle of water in the rooms; paid fridge; cheapest soap bar and soap; low quality of bedding; bed hard like a stone; staff is rude, especially the ones in the restaurant: ridiculous demands not to sit to "reserved" tables - half the restaurant is reserved for god knows who starting with the breakfast, staff is chasing clients away from tables. Also the waiters/waitresses are hunting for plates, taking plates from clients while still eating or just constantly watching you, hurrying you up. no moment of peace and relaxation; no drinks during dinner, not even water; food was cheap, repetitive, very ugly, rotten veggies, bulk cheap products, no real yogurts, just massive pots filled with something that looked like a watery mess. coffee from the coffee machines was undrinkable - sour taste; no option for dietary restrictions, gluten free or lactose free products. the cooking services on the spot always spoiled the food with too much oil; bad design of the hotel, restaurant is somehow at underground level, down many stairs. hotel is geared towards German tourists: menu, tv channels, food, receptionists speaking only German. Far away from the beach, definitely not 200m, on a hill so be aware of the location. Dirty premises - especially the land behind...
Read moreThe hotel is located near to the beach, and there are plenty of shops next to it. The room wasn't so clean, we saw lots of long blond hair in the bathroom, the breakfast and dinner buffets were good. However, Liusia (a receptionist) was so rude and disrespectful, when we asked for towels, because the ones we used the day before were wet she refused to give us and started to talk in spanish (as if she was saying bad words) and then she told us to think about the planet, when we insisted she throws the towels in front of us on the table and left while we were still talking to her. Educate your employees! She's a receptionist she has to be polite and respectful with clients. The other employees were friendly.
So after the response (lies) of the hotel i would like to respond as well: 1- all of what they said are lies. 2- i had only one problem with this disrespectful receptionist (llusia) and not with 3 others receptionists as you said in your response, the others were friendly. 3- i asked the first time for towels and asked another time one hour after only, and not 3 times in 30 minutes as you lied and said. 4- i stayed in the hotel for 4 days and asked to change towels one time only - 4*2 - 8 So 8 towels for 2 persons incliding pool towels and shower ones. Last but not least you could just apologize and be professional and educate your employees better than respond with lies and...
