The food quality is mediocre...microwaved tapas or canned fish represent the "traditional" meal for the German bloke who is the owner of this eccentric place.
the menu is super confusing and requires you to write down the order yourself...really?? Additionally, you get to pay a ridiculous price for average service.
To top up the disappointment: CASH ONLY! When asked explanation, the owner rudely explains that the ''machine'' does not work in his restaurant due to internet bad reception, even tho I have 5G on my UK sim phone...and points to a sign, that it is made pretty much invisible by a frame wich perfectly blends into the already eccentric environment, reporting that no card payments are accepted.
As we don't carry cash I politely asked what we could do to fix the bill, he replayed that it is not his problem and that there is a cash point opposite the restaurant. unfortunately, we only have digital cards, and when shown to the owner on my smartphone he started mocking us complaining that we (I suppose people younger than his old attitude) are dependent on these devices. Fair enough, but I am the customer and I don't care!
we left without paying and agreed to come "manana por la manana" (tomorrow morning) to fix the bill, the owner said it was ok, he would be open from 7. unfortunately the restaurant does not open until 7 pm.
On what planet a traditional Spanish restaurant owner does not understand what manana por la manana means?
End of the story.
P.S. still have not...
Read moreWhen we came on Wednesday (which seems to be a day when some restaurants are closed), all the tables were booked so we were sent across the street and told that was the same food. It was the green wall that attracted us and although the other place was empty, we could at least watch it from there :D The service, one lady, was extremely slow, and we were waiting for 1 aperol spritz and 2 glasses of wine for like 10 mins although we were the only guests there :-/ The starter, that we were supposed to cancel if we didnt want it, never came although we did not cancel..🤷♀️ The main course which we chose on purpose was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT..extremely small portion, almost no sea food just empty shells :'(( ..below average rice, no particular taste... for 12eur! We left hungrier than when we came after drinking alcohol and struggling with the sea food creatures desperately trying to get a tiny piece of meat out of it :,(.. .. so not worth the money and the time! The only good thing was the wine..that was...
Read moreSeñor Tapas is a true gem located on the Peguera strip. The owner and his wife have combined delicious food, friendly waiting staff, and terracotta decor to provide a wonderful Spanish dining experience.
I took my mother here last night and I will definitely be returning. Upon walking up the steps, we were transported from the tourist-rammed Peguera high street to a rustic quaint family-run restaurant -- the type that sits on generations of culinary expertise. Being only a couple of years old, it was truly unexpected.
There is no menu per say, so after your first drink the waiting staff escort you inside to choose from the tapas that is on offer that day. Everything is gluten free and cooked to perfection. On my must-try list is the Broccoli and feta salad and the pork marinated for 24hours before. On my mothers was peppers stuffed with cod and courgettes with mint. Oh but the chicken and saffron was good too, and the mushrooms... So there is something for everyone!
