Hotel Reymar’s supposed to be a three star hotel. How or why is beyond my understanding. There have been several inconveniences happening from the very first second of our check in, but let me start with the good things: *The hotel is quite close to the beach. It is less than five minutes to walk there. *There is a restaurant and bar within with live events, concerts etc. *Many shops and restaurants available kn the area. *Nice balcony with the room. *Swimming pool (never used it though). *And last but not least: Mustafa, the receptionist.(Extremely helpful, speaks multiple languages, one of the reasons why I gave three stars instead of two.)
And here are the cons: Arrived ill and stresaed very late after several delays, which is my subjective issue, but upon arrival the receptionist was a Spanish gent who barely spoke any English, and was mainly loafing around the front desk where people were waiting for him to help. I mean, in a three star hotel not to have at least one properly trained receptionist for the night is outrageous. (Speaking as a receptionist myself who has been in the exact same industry for a very long time now.) There were issues with our booking, which is obviously not the hotel’s fault, but frankly if there would have been a professional to help me sort out the situation, it would have been amazing. The staff of the breakfast/dinner team also managed to feel us unwelcome from the first day. We had to queue up for restaurant, and a gent at the door would sit us through. He, however left for several minutes and we went ahead as there were many tables free and we had to pick food anyway. My mother took a seat and the gent started shouting with her and then with me, calling me “MAAAN” multiple times as if I was his little mate, making all of us feel extremely degraded. (Yet again I would like to emphasize that I have always been working in the customer service and I know exactly what is a professional, effective and polite way of treating guests and clients.) Despte it was an all you can eat breakfast and dinner, the selection was saddening. I will not even mention freshness... And this is for 8-9€. But that is my personal thought. What is not is when I picked up some plates to put the food on, the bottom was covered in mayo or sauce leftovers that were obviously not washed properly... and again, in a three star hotel. I did not feel comfortable eating and drinking out of the kitchenware there. And then just to make the story round, the maid came to clean the room. Despite the freezing weather, I had to ask for an extra duvet. (The duvet was actually a piece of very old dirty rag from the 1980’s...) The maid did her job and strip my bed and took my duvet as well without askig or even thinkig why things are like that! Another day I was naked in the bathroom when the maid decided to enter the room, and when I went out in mmbirthday suit to check what is happening she smiled at me and kept doing her job. My face was not happy but it did not stop her from moping up around my feet (in my towel) and going on with her duties. I felt like I was in the way (on my own holiday) and had to go out to the balcony on the cold wind to wait there. As a last comment I would like to add as well that it is ridiculous that you are being charged for technically everything that is “extra”. TV is nothing important for me, but my parents like to watch it and hey charge a lot to use it. What is especially annoying though is that the wifi is only working in the lobby (in a limited area), and if you want to use wifi in the rooms you have to pay so much! They have a daily rate and if you want to use wifi for a week it is around €25! Seriously? I believe wifi should be a basic service nowadays! But perhaps I am wrong... We managed to bring out the best of what we had, but these little memories will always remain and make our thoughts bittersweet unfortunately! I hope the management makes note of my review and pushes the staff and the hotel towards...
Read moreStaff: Bar staff were lovely and kind but the ladies at reception weren't helpful, attempted to book an excursion and was told to come back later because she had to ask about it, came later and another staff member said to book the day before, we went the next morning and the lady at reception said that she doesn't know how excursions work and to come later. We eventually booked it with the help of the lovely man at reception.
Facilities
Pool: Loungers are all claimed by 9:30am with towels despite the pool area being empty, no actions taken to prevent this. Also, there were no umbrellas or shade for the loungers. Pool was nice but crowded and could not swim without getting hit by balls - feels like the pool facilities are not big enough for the amount of rooms. The sauna is a great way to dry off after the pool.
The room: The room was quite cramped for three of us with only a small walk space, could not open the wardrobe and walk to the other side of the room which is a hassle when three people are trying to get ready. All balcony lights turn off at midnight also which was quite strange. The bathroom was fine but the shower was finicky add ran between boiling and freezing often. The room was very clean though, excellent quality curtains which blocked all light, our room was towards the back of the hotel and it was very quiet. The beds were comfortable, I have a disability so staying in an unknown bed is always a risk, I woke up feeling refreshed every morning and had no complaints about my back.
Elevators: The elevators were awful, they were tiny, cramped, old, very slow and once again, there weren't enough of them for the capacity of the hotel. As mentioned previously, I have a disability and there were several occasions where going down 6 flights of stairs was less painful than standing whilst waiting for an elevator.
The bar - could not fault the bar, the bar staff were lovely, entertaining, personable and remembered you. The drinks they served were really nice quality and they always offered to bring the drinks to your table.
Entertainment: Entertainment was family friendly and switched off by about 11 every night which kept noise levels down.
Accessibility: Pool area isn't very wheelchair accessible as it is cramped, as mentioned, the elevators are there for accessibility however aren't great. They do have mobility scooters for rent to help people with reduced mobility explore the area which is a plus.
Overall, it's a great place to rest your head at night after a...
Read moreWe booked this placed based on economy and reading previous reviews. In the end I regret to say this is probably the worst place I've stayed at ever. There were a number of faults: HEAT - the first room the hotel gave us had such high humidity and room temperature that it was constantly stuffy and stale. The hotel gave us another room on a higher floor which had better aircon, however it was too loud and no matter what time of the day the room always returned to boiling hot a few mins after turning it off. NO PRIVACY - this is the WORST aspect of this hotel, every morning before 10am we had the cleaning staff that knocked constantly, with ZERO consideration and always try to force their way into the rooms no matter if we replied or not, we said no please don't come in and they still tried to force their way in. We spoke with reception and the policy seems to be: knock for 2s and open the door straight away. They do not respect guest privacy nor consent and this is the case with this hotel it seems, they always want to enter the room without notice or against guest consent. This is TERRIBLE. COST - although on the surface this hotel is cheaper than surrounding places, you don't realize they charge for almost everything. €5 for WiFi for ONE device. €5/day for borrowing a fridge. Etc. Etc. This is basic utilities which you expect to be included, but you find almost everything is behind a paywall... CUSTOMER SERVICE - the only good experience we had at this hotel is the friendly male gentleman at reception during daytime (which helped this review to be an one star, not zero), he was smiling and funny, and very helpful with moving our fridge. The rest of the staff, especially the young female receptionist, had an attitude that we felt was cold and critical, they did not seem to care about our concerns and wasn't helpful. ACCESSIBILITY: the hotel lifts were cramped and slow, there are only 2 and you couldn't fit more than 4 people, or 2 people with luggage, at any given time. Most days we waited 5-10mins just to leave the hotel. During peak times of check in and check out there is a major queue and jam. Many people got frustrated and resorted to using the stairs. ATMOSPHERE: the pool area is the only nice feature about this hotel, but you can apply that to any nearby rivals because everyone had a pool, we found this hotel's pool decent and had a nice atmosphere, but it is not enough to give this...
