stayed here a week. i was given an excellent room. it was right above the hotel lobby. i think this is the best location you can get at the hotel because it's the only location where you don't have anyone under or above you.
FIRST IMPRESSION: as you check in at the front desk you're offered a variety of beverages (including cava). we entered our room to fresh fruit basket and a ICED bottle of cava and 2 bottles of water all complementary. those 2 bottles of water was refreshed each day.
THE HOTEL: upscale, clean, and modern. the design seemed a bit confusing at first but then it all made sense. the design was very well thought out. each tier served a purpose. every angle was to maximize view. every section was created for a reason.
LOCATION: perched on a cliff over-looking amadores beach (a spectacular beach). it's one of the best man-made cove/beaches in my opinion. the sand is lightly colored and really showcases the clear water.
ACCESS: just a short walk to/from the beach. there's an elevator that takes you from the driveway of the hotel, which requires you to walk up a small hill to get to, to the top, which is the nudist zone. that may be a problem for some but i enjoyed it.
THE STAFF: most of the staff members were top-notch! just super friendly/helpful and accommodating. you will find a few that's not having a good day (especially in the dining area) but they are trying to get a LOT of people in and out of the buffet so i was OK with it.
THE BUFFET: the breakfast buffet is included in the hotel fee and it's impressive. you want it? they got it. don't get there right as it opens since not everything will be laid out. the lunch and dinner buffets are well worth the money. don't just look at the menu outside the buffet and decide whether to eat there or not. for some reason they didn't highlight some of the best dishes and only advertised the themed dishes.
why go here? well the restaurants down by the beaches weren't better and you pretty much pay the same amount and the food at the hotel buffet was ALL fresh. seafood shouldn't be fishy when you're on an island. i'll just leave it at that. no problems with that at the hotel buffet.
THE POOLS: there are 3 that i know of. most people use the main pool 1 level below the hotel lobby. it's a very nice pool with a spectacular view of the beach. on top of that, it's a saltwater pool. it doesn't get better than that! the 2nd pool is by the nudist zone. it's much smaller but adequate. there's also a bar by the pool there (which is always a good thing). the last pool is below the main pool and it's kind of a spa/pool combo kinda thing. i didn't use it so i can't help you with details.
KAIA restaurant: didn't go to it. flavor combos weren't for me. reviews are great though. not open monday or tuesday. why? i don't know.
EXTRAS: so there were activities offered at the hotel at no extra cost (to my knowledge). there's music at different times of night both in the lobby/lounge and below where the entertainment room is. it's not the cirque du soliel caliber of entertainment but you're in luck if that's what you're looking for because they are in town until late september or early october. on a side note, totem was good but not great (compared to their vegas shows).
there's also interactive screens all over where you can get information on local buses, weather, and what's going on at the hotel. super useful!
AMENITIES: in addition to what i already mentioned there's a spa/salon where you can get all your pampering needs fulfilled. i didn't do that either. my wife did have her hair done there and she was very happy with what they did. surprisingly, the hairstylist didn't try to sell a bunch of crap to my wife just to make more money. she only paid 27 euros and her hair looked fantastic after.
BOTTOM LINE: it's the best hotel in amadores which is why i...
Read moreMyself and my boyfriend have just come back from a 10 day all inclusive holiday at Gloria Hotel Palace Royal & Spa 15th Sept – 25th Sept I cannot fault this Hotel one bit (and I can be very picky). We arrived about 21.30 the receptionist took our names and gave us the option of going for dinner before we officially checked in which was nice. After we had eaten we went back up to reception to check in, we were informed about the rules of the hotel regarding wearing of facemasks (which they also provided) these were required to be worn in and around the hotel and when ordering at the bars. We checked in room 4311a which was in block 4 so nice and close to everything we needed. Our room was very spacious nice big very comfy bed, there was a shower and a bath. In the kitchen you had your normal tea’s and coffee, complimentary waters still and sparking also a microwave if needed. Our balcony was massive.... table and chairs which we used every morning for our morning coffee as the view of the beach was amazing. Rooms were cleaned everyday.
The Hotel in our opinion was absolutely brilliant. STAFF ARE FANTASTIC they work very hard (so be nice to them). The food we couldn't fault. My boyfriend is a fussy eater but ate 3 times a day with ease breakfast options were sausages, bacon, eggs (all ways you can think off). Selection of meats, cheese, fruit, cereals, bread. Lunch again massive amounts of selection hot and cold choices and Dinner we thought was very good and varied every night. If you like fish as I do the salmon is to die for. I can’t comment on the snack bar as we didn’t use it. Sunbeds around the pool were socially distanced due to covid restrictions but we always managed to get one. The first pool which is the main he pool gives you amazing views of Amadores Bay. This pool is a bit busier and has some pool activities during the day. There is another pool on the roof-top (solarium) this is a bit smaller but still very nice, the solarium is a little quieter and we spent most of out time here on the sofa sunbeds (these are great). There is also a heated indoor pool in the spa area. This is where the sauna and steam room is and the indoor and outdoor gym (we used this everyday to work out very good equipment) For evening entertainment they seemed to have a different singer each night, we usually sat out by the pool and ordered drinks played some cards. The staff come to you to take your orders we never had any issues all the staff we encounter were lovely (I cant say the same to some of visitors whom I witnessed being rude to the staff in a number of occasions!). If you fancy a walk you can head down to the beach and there is an great spot at the end of the rocks to watch the sunset, although you can watch this from the hotel with ease. It is a bit hilly so may not be for those who struggle walking. Just to be picky and make others aware the only issue I had was with one of the excursions we booked with a company that came into the hotel (so not the hotels fault) the big blue team, it turns out 4 of us from the same hotel were charged different deposit amounts for the same excursion but still had to pay the same amount on the day, and another older couple were charged even more so there was clearly something very iffy going on there. I would not use these again there is a lovely gentleman just outside the hotel that you can book excursions with Thank to everyone at the hotel. You all work extremely hard and were very polite. You made our holiday that little bit extra. Definitely a hotel we would come back to in the future I for sure didn't want to come home. Thank you...

Slight incline on way back to hotel but nothing major. From leaving the hotel there is a spar within 3 min walk which is useful. The hotel has work going on so coach cant drop you off at the doors, you have to walk a hill to the hotel. The hill has a decent gradient however isn't very long takes 3 mins maybe from where the coach drops you off to getting to the lift. The hotel staff are amazing helped with all our queries. Some staff didn't speak English however communication was never a issue and we did our best to pick up/ use as many phrases as possible. The all inclusive was really good. It's a card system which can be confusing / worrying as you just tap away. For anything that costs extra you have to sign for it. But they are good about confirming what is and isn't covered when you order. The food was good. We didn't have the same meal. Breakfast was the meal that was mainly the same but even still had different dishes each time.( I lived off pancakes ). As I said the staff were amazing. The service for dinner and lunch was great. The cleaning staff also amazing. Did amazing job with the room every day giving water and tidying anything they could without moving lots. The room was nice. We had a sea view. The way the hotel is done you won't get any direct sun onto the balcony which is why I put a 4 star. The actual balcony was a nice size and a good view however no direct sun meant we only really used in evening and that things took longer to dry. But honestly not a issue really. Just as a FYI. The air con in the room worked amazingly. Cooled the room down and made comfortable to sleep. The pool were cleaned daily and when the closing time came to the pool ( 18:00 ) they were not kicking you out, was very relaxed. The spa circuit was great and even got offered orange juice while in the spa circuit. The gym was good enough, don't expect the best equipment but worked fine. The health spa was lovely we had a massage for 45 mins and managed to do it as a couples massage even though not listed on the treatments. ( £78 euros each for the 45 mins massage ) the massage was phenomenal. In terms of the demographic, when we arrived ( kids at school still ) there very little kids and mainly couples of 45 age plus. Towards the backend of our trip more family's appeared and did get louder and busier. We went in June. The only downside I would say to the hotel would be that I think we may have got lucky with our room. As we was only one floor up from the main pool. Same level as the place for food and 2 floors down from reception. The hotel is long so having to walk to and from the different places could be abnocsious. Especially as there isn't just one central lift. You have to jump lifts. Our room was great so not a complaint just a observation as we did a lot of walking up and down and we was in a good place. For us fine but if mobility issues there are lifts...
