El Far Hotel Restaurant — Hotel in Palafrugell

Good food and a nice location, but let's talk about the service...

We originally wanted to reserve a table for 1pm, but were told it had to be 1.30pm, so that was when we arrived. All the waitresses were very friendly, but almost immediately a man who appeared to be more managerial came to us and said that we must leave the table at 3.30pm. When we said that we were concerned that wouldn't be enough time to enjoy our meal he said that we should have arrived at 1pm. We told him that we were told to arrive when we did and he just shrugged.

In the end it was them who made everything take so long. We had to wait around 45mins for our food to be prepared and then over 30mins for them to bring the bill when we asked for it.

All in all, we finally paid up and left at close to 4pm, and there was absolutely no sign of anyone else wanting the table or of any of the staff caring that we were still sat there.

So why create the stress so...

We celebrated our wedding at Hotel El Far – and it was absolutely incredible! The venue, the organization, the staff and service, the food – everything was just perfect.

A very special thanks to Sara for coordinating and managing everything so smoothly and for making even the smallest changes and spontaneous requests possible – both before and during the wedding. Every detail was handled with great care! Also, a big thank you to Maria and the entire team for the outstanding service – both we and our guests loved the delicious food and the warm, attentive care we received throughout the day. And last but not least, many thanks to Judith, who not only convinced us to choose El Far back in 2023 but also took such great care of us during our stay.

The restaurant is fantastic but it becomes very expensive once you factor in the possible traffic fine for using the hotel car park. ||To avoid the fine you must inform the reception of your car details and they have an arrangement with the local authority to inform them of those details so you don't get fined. ||If you use the public var park just below the hotel car park the same applies. ||The sign is in Catalan only despite most visitors to the top being foreign and despite the fact that the vast majority of them will not speak Catalan. ||I've seen some crazy things in Spain but this beats the lot. To be fined for leaving a public car park by the only possible exit route is plain daft. Why even have the car park there ? And why make this particular road for pedestrians only? It hasn't even got any buildings on the road. ||I've now racked up €800 in fines this...
