One of the worst hotels in the city!
I don’t even know where to begin. The experience at this hotel was horrible from the moment we arrived for check-in until we checked out.
I had booked a family room for my vacation in Barcelona with my family. As a Gold member of Allgroup, I had emailed the hotel with some requests during our stay. They assured me that everything would be fine and organized.
When we arrived at the hotel, I asked the receptionist about the reservation details. He confirmed that he had handled everything. He let us check in and gave us the keys. However, when we went to our room, I was shocked to find that he had lied to us. We were given two awful rooms .
As a Gold member, I expected the hotel to provide me with the benefits that they claim to offer. But this was not the case. The receptionist had lied to us about the rooms and the check-in process. If he had been honest from the beginning, I would not have checked in and would have gone to another hotel that respected its group members.
I called the Reservation Operation Manager, Raquel, to report the incident. I explained that the receptionist had lied to us and given us the wrong confirmation and information . However, Raquel was rude and unprofessional. I told her to check the cameras on the reception to see how the receptionist had lied to us and gave us the wrong rooms. Instead of taking action against the receptionist, she started defending him and telling us that he might have misunderstood.
Where is the management of the hotel to see such situations?
All the management and managers didn’t care about the attitude of the receptionist who lied to customers or the operation manager who protected him instead of taking action. They all said the same things, including the general manager’s reply.
The service at this hotel is very poor.
After a few days, I met another manager at the hotel and explained to her that I was extremely upset about the unprofessional treatment I received from the receptionist and the operation manager. She promised me that she would inform the general manager, and he would contact me to meet and discuss it. However, as expected, no one contacted me.
Here are some additional disadvantages:
The location of the hotel is very far from the city, and there is nothing around it. You need a lot of taxis and transportation every day to go and come back from the city. The level of cleanliness is very low. The most important thing is that I gave them my credit card details during check-in. Imagine every few days they try to deduct different amounts of money from my card! I paid all my stay payments at check-in.
So, who gave you the right to try to deduct different amounts of money without my permission and for what?
The experience at this hotel is horrible. The staff are unprofessional.
I do not recommend this...

There were mixed feelings about our stay at the SLS in Barcelona. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stylish decor and a modern aesthetic. However, there were some significant issues that impacted our stay, especially considering the 5-star rating.
Positives:
The lower-floor pool area was lovely and provided a nice place to relax. The housekeeping and restaurant staff were wonderful, always polite and attentive. Great Buffett breakfast offered, and excellent service by the team. The reception and door staff were pleasant, though could’ve had more warmth when welcomed into the hotel.
Room Issues:
We had some issues with our room upon check-in. The air conditioning wasn’t working, which is something I’d expect to be checked by the team when preparing the room. After raising the issue, the staff was quick to provide a different room, but it was disappointing to deal with this straight away in a luxury hotel.
Unmet Expectations:
One of the main disappointments was the Cosmico rooftop pool and bar being closed for maintenance, which meant we couldn’t access anything up there. We were not informed about this before or during check-in, which felt like an oversight. Surprised the hotel charges for small in-room requests like a spoon (5 EUR for delivery). I understand that small charges can apply in some cases, but this felt unnecessary and again not the service you'd expect at a 5-star hotel. Additionally, there was a tourist tax charge per night that wasn’t mentioned at check-in, which felt a bit misleading. I also found out that other amenities, like the bikes available at the front of the hotel, come with an extra charge — these aren’t included in the 5-star pricing.
Safety Concern:
The most concerning issue during our stay was an incident in the shower, where my partner electrocuted touching the handle. It was after 2-3 hours the maintenance team assessed the issue, and identified an issue with the loose contact points of wires. An even bigger shock was the lack of sympathy or urgency from management, and when asked if we should file an incident report, we were told it wasn’t necessary. When speaking to the manager at the end of our stay about the issue, he literally said, “we would’ve offered you something, but you didn’t notify us” and then proceeded to offer us a drink at the bar, which felt more like a cover up.
**Overall, whilst SLS Barcelona is a stunning hotel with potential, it clearly wasn’t ready to be open for guests. Our experience was marred by a lack of communication, attention to detail, and serious safety issues. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously to improve the experience for...
Read moreHonesty is the best policy ..so please read. I've given this hotel 5 stars some people may look at the others and see complaints and moans but it opened 3 months ago so expect a few teething problems and look at the beautiful hotel it is. The staff could not be more accommodating Innees (on reception Im sorry if I spelt it incorrectly) was more than helpful and we decided on a room upgrade when we arrived and it was the best decision made, the balcony views onto the marina are superb. For ref the top areas are not yet open maybe a month or more for 2 new pools and a bar.
The pool area in the middle of the buidling is relatively small but wasn't overcrowded maybe as the hotel obv is not at any where near capacity at the minute. The breakfast area is lovely and the choice of food is as you would expect, perfect. Some little tweaks yes, maybe but these are things if you mention to the staff they more than happily help with.
Location OK it's 12 euros into the centre in a taxi which dont fret pass by the doors every few mins. But it's quiet and tranquil and gives you a relaxed vibe and a cool breeze away from the built up centre 😎
We found it a perfect combination for our 4 night break..it does depend on whether you want to spend your whole day trawling and getting sweaty lol or like us chill at a lovely hotel and then head out a tad later to avoid the midday heat.
Don't miss the little restaurants under the promenade and the coffee shop too these are hidden gems on your doorstep and the beach is more for locals but definitely worth the stroll.
Once the promenade outside the hotel is finished I can imagine it being great for a lovely evening walk. Don't be fooled by the big incinerator next door it exists but we didnt have any issues with smells or even noticed it.
All in all I dont think you can fault the hotel for being new and I agree with one of the other reviews it will get busier and poss outpriced once people try it out and see the quality and luxury that it is. I guarantee it will only get better.
If I had to return to Barcelona I'd not hesitate in returning in...
