This was my third time visiting Rosalia because I’ve always really enjoyed the food. However, I’ve noticed that the menu keeps changing and not for the better.
On my first visit, the food was excellent and it came with both tea and orange juice included, which felt like a lovely touch. The second time, I was told I could choose between tea or coffee, and orange juice still came alongside. That was just three weeks ago, and the menu looked exactly the same as it did yesterday.
But yesterday, we were told that drinks/ tea coffee were no longer included in the €18 menu which, for Barcelona, is already quite expensive for brunch. No more included tea or even the small orange juice that used to come as a standard. On top of that, I was charged €1.50 for butter for my bread which should really be included when two plain slices of bread are served and €1.50 for a small bit of Tabasco sauce, which I asked for because some of the food was a little dry and I like to add flavour. In most restaurants, condiments like ketchup or hot sauce are offered without any additional charge.
What really let the whole experience down, though, was the service. At no point were we told that these extras would be charged separately. That should have been made clear when we ordered. Instead, we felt misled, and the waitress was quite rude and dismissive not what you expect when you’ve been a repeat customer and have even brought people here in the past to share what I once thought was a great spot.
Sadly, this experience has really put me off. With the rising prices, the removal of what used to be included perks, and the lack of transparency, I won’t be...
Read morei’m really not normally one to leave negative reviews, but i need to for this. our group visited this place our of sheer convenience and i thought the 4.6 star rating would guarantee a nice experience. we got a range of things, i got french toast - the others, a burger & a sandwich. i physically could not eat my french toast, it tasted disgusting - and i’m not typically a very picky eater! when i told the waitress this she just apologised but then didn’t take it off the bill (i am not confrontational and didn’t want to kick up a fuss and ask for it to be taken off but i thought common courtesy would be to remove it). my friends weren’t big fans of their food either but managed to eat it. the seats were dirty, the straw in my lemonade was dirty (it was plastic so i presume they are being reused - gross!!!!). if you want somewhere instagrammable, this is your place. but if you want actual decent food and a clean environment, go elsewhere.
EDIT (reply to owner): i would like to reinstate that I did NOT finish my dish - i had two bites at most, gave a bite to my friend to see if it was just my taste (it wasn't - she also thought it wasn't nice), and then communicated to the waitress that I didn't like it. it also seems that, looking at your recent reviews, a lot of people had a similar experience to me. once again, i'm really not one to leave negative reviews, but the positive overall rating for this restaurant made me feel led on as it did not align with the experience i had. i hope that this feedback can be taken on board by...
Read moreThis was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had.
When I arrived, I waited over 20 minutes for someone to take my order, but nobody came. I even tried calling the waiter several times, but he completely ignored me. I eventually had to go inside to place the order myself. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, so there was no excuse for the lack of service.
After that, I waited more than an hour for a burger. When it finally arrived, it was completely wrong. I asked for a burger without tomatoes and pickles, but what I got was just a bun and meat — not even the right bun. The waiter claimed that’s what I had asked for.
I asked for sauces, and he said he’d bring them, but he never did. I had to go inside again to speak with another staff member, who apologized and admitted it was the waiter’s mistake (apparently it was his first day). While I appreciate that they comped my meal, the service was completely unacceptable.
For a waiter over 40 years old, I would expect at least some basic customer service skills, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Reading other reviews, I now see this isn’t an isolated issue — it seems to happen often.
If the management wants people to come back, they really need to train their staff better and improve service. As it stands, this was the worst service and overall experience I’ve ever had at...
