Extremely unprofessional staff, GDPR violations, and no accountability from management
We stayed at Los Felitos Ibiza expecting the same level of service as in Romeo’s and Grand Paradiso, where we previously had great experiences. Sadly, this stay has been completely ruined by the behavior of your receptionist and the lack of any follow-up from management.
Here’s what happened: After returning to the hotel one evening, my wife and I (completely sober and behaving normally) decided to take 4–5 photos outside the hotel with a small compact camera. Suddenly, the receptionist ran out and started shouting aggressively, saying photography is not allowed unless it’s with a phone. This “policy” was never communicated to us at check-in and is not posted anywhere on the premises.
The receptionist then demanded our room number in an intimidating tone, without explaining why he needed it. I calmly asked three times what hotel policy he was referring to and who he was to demand my data. Instead of answering, he continued to press and became more confrontational.
Later, when I went downstairs to buy cigarettes and wanted to document the incident, the same receptionist refused to allow me to record, even though I was in a public area (the lobby), and he refused to give his name, saying, “It’s written here.”
This is unacceptable on every level, and here’s why:
⸻
Violation of GDPR (Regulation EU 2016/679)
• Article 5 – Principles of data processing • The hotel had already collected all my personal data (name, passport, room number) at check-in. • Staff had no right to request my room number again unless there was a specific, legal reason, this was communicated at check-in, and the purpose of collecting it was clearly explained. • Article 6 – Lawfulness of processing • Hotel staff may only request personal data if there is a legitimate basis (e.g., rule violations, pending payments). There was no such basis here. • Article 12 – Transparency • The receptionist was required to explain why he was requesting personal data. He did not.
⸻
Refusing to give his name – violation of hospitality standards Hotel staff are required to:
• Introduce themselves to guests • Wear a visible name badge • Provide their name and position upon request, especially in a conflict This receptionist refused and said, “It’s written here.” This is a clear violation of professional conduct.
⸻
Prohibiting video recording – violation of my right to document a conflict
• The lobby is a public area where guests have the right to record if their rights are being violated. • If the hotel has a “No filming” policy, it must be communicated at check-in and visibly posted in public areas. The receptionist did not show any such policy, making his prohibition unjustified.
⸻
Aggression and intimidation – unacceptable service standards
• In European hotels, staff are required to remain professional and calm even during disputes. • Aggressive tone and demanding personal data without explanation are completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

Two days ago, I posted a detailed Google review about this incident. Since then, no one from the management has contacted me or apologized for the ruined stay caused by your incompetent staff. Today we are checking out, and I am not going to leave this unresolved. I will escalate this to the relevant authorities.
I have already consulted my lawyer and will be submitting formal complaints to: • The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) • Booking • Tripadvisor • The Ibiza Tourism Office
Until this is addressed, I strongly advise against staying...
Read moreThe hotel and pool are lovely to look at, and the rooms themselves are nice, although I agree with other reviews that it would have been great to have a dressing table or something similar.||||Unfortunately, the customer service was honestly some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. The staff by the pool were slow (one day it took my friend two hours to get a coffee), seemed overwhelmed even though it wasn’t particularly busy, and at times were just outright rude.||||There were several occasions where we were spoken to like we were complete idiots, including by someone who I assume was the pool bar manager, who huffed, rolled his eyes at me, and said “Why have you done that today of all days?” when I explained that I’d accidentally given the wrong room number to charge some food to and asked if it could be updated (at least I was being honest!). About an hour later, another staff member came over and rather abruptly told me I had to pay cash for it instead, because they’d already taken the money out of the till for the order?? I’m not totally sure why they would take cash out for something that hadn’t actually been paid for yet??||||We were repeatedly charged for things we hadn’t ordered or given items that weren’t ours, and whenever we questioned it, we were met with attitude and made to feel like we were the ones in the wrong.||||But the absolute low point of the trip was when the last three of us went to reception to ask for a taxi to the airport and to query, on behalf of our friend why the hotel had tried to charge £170 and £40 to her card after she had checked out, especially as nothing was mentioned to her about extra charges when she checked out earlier in the day. To our shock, we were accused of stealing a large speaker from the room she had been staying in which was a completely baseless accusation! When we messaged our group to update them everyone was confused, as none of us that had been in that room during the trip ever saw a speaker in there at any point. We were even using our own one in that room and we honestly don’t believe it had ever been there to begin with.||||I’ve never felt so embarrassed or angry. They refused to call us a taxi until we paid for the speaker and said they would call the police. It felt like we were being held hostage over something we knew absolutely nothing about and with no evidence they could show us!||||I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere where the atmosphere between staff and guests was so hostile. And judging from other reviews, this isn’t a one-off. The hotel always replies saying feedback will be passed on, but clearly nothing changes. Either they don’t care, or they’re just not doing anything about it, which is a real shame because if they got that part right, this could be a...
Read moreAbsolutely Appalling Experience – my recommendation: Avoid at All Costs!
My stay at Los Felices Ibiza was disappointing from start to finish, but the way the hotel handled a simple lost item request exposed a level of incompetence and dishonesty I’ve rarely experienced.
The hotel might have a fancy and charming design - if you are looking for nice Insta fotos - that is all you will get out of it.
After checking out, I realized I had left a personal item behind in the room. I contacted the hotel immediately, and was told they would "look into it and get back to me"—shortly after they confirmed the item was there and they will contact me how to proceed. I was informed that i should organise a courrier to pick up the item and ship it to my home adress - which I did (Fedex). I communicated the pick up time and date to the hotel which they confirmed.
After the sheduled pick up date, the hotel confirmed that the package was on its way - but i did not get any updates from fedex. I had to follow up multiple times, only to be met with vague, conflicting answers. Eventually they claimed that the package was returned to them - opened and without the item.
After following up with fedex, they confirmed that the hotel did in fact NOT hand over any package to the courrier!
This only leaves on conclusion: The staff continuously lied to me, claiming they did everthing right. Also the absolut lack of accountability of the hotel management is very shocking.
Each time I spoke to someone new, I got a slightly different story. No one seemed to be keeping track of anything. Eventually, they just stopped responding altogether, claiming "they are not liable and they did everything right". The item is now permanently lost, thanks entirely to their incompetence and lack of accountability.
It’s clear that once you’ve checked out, they don’t care about you at all. No responsibility, no effort to make things right, not even basic courtesy.
Save yourself the frustration. There are plenty of hotels in Ibiza—Los Felices is not worth your money,...
